mr spokes new forest cycle hire

Peter and his partner Lisa provide a great experience for their customers. We were lucky enough to have a sunny and mild day at the end of October. We turned up at their Ashurst location - easy to find as it's in the Station car park. Very quickly we were equipped with suitable bikes - all in excellent condition and recently serviced. A clear explanation of the routes was given and easy to read maps were attached to the handlebars. We were provided with a rucksack with a spare inner tube, puncture repair kit, tyre levers (thank fully none of this emergency kit was needed!) and a bike lock. Armed with the local information we headed off into the forest. We spent a good few hours cycling to Brockenhurst through some wonderful scenery, and returned back to base on the train. As Mr Spokes is based at Ashurst Station this was an easy option!!I really can't rate Peter and Lisa highly enough. They give courteous and polite service, know the area extremely well and I'd recommend Mr Spokes to anyone who is looking for a fun day out.

In 2012 I visited the New Forest with some friends for a bike ride. I was training for the London-Paris bike ride for charity and let's just say I was quite the amateur...My friends mentioned to Pete about my adventure and he was so kind and generous. He arranged for my bike to be serviced, fitted new handles to my bike, let me borrow a bike pannier and he even provided me with proper cycling shoes and fitted the new pedals to my bike. All because I was doing the bike ride for charity! It's nice to know there are some really nice, kind people out there! I really was overwhelmed by his generosity.Thanks Pete, and all of you your staff too!

I hired a bicycle for my 9 year old daughter from Peter at Mr Spokes. He delivered the bike to our hotel the night before we arrived. In fact whilst we were staying at the Woodlands Hotel the weather was so good that I decided I would like to cycle too. So I also hired one. The bike I got was very good on the road and also whilst cycling in the New Forest. It came with some cycle routes a helmet and puncture kit. Which we did not need. The best thing was I hired my bicycle during the day and Peter was kind enough to deliver the bike to the hotel for me so that I got to cycle whilst the sun was still shining. I would recommend Mr Spokes as the bikes were very good. Had good gear range and was perfect for me and my daughter. The price was also very reasonable.

Mr Spokes (Pete) was friendly, knowledgeable and went beyond the call of duty to help myself and my son. The prices were reasonable with nice added touches like water and a rucksack included and the bikes were new, comfortable and well-maintained. Quite simply, if you want to explore the New Forest on a bike, Mr Spokes is unbeatable!

Lovely couple who run this bike hire! Very reasonable price (full and half day prices available), and the customer care given is truly amazing! Trail maps (attachable to bikes), helmets, and a rucksack kit (including puncture repair kit, bike lock, etc) were provided in the bike hire price. The couple were so so lovely - I really can't stress this enough, and gave us lots of good advice. Would recommend and will be back at some point! I wish them the best of success and am so happy we chose to hire bikes here! :)(Located next to station, pub and car parking)

The owner of Mr Spokes was very nice and thoughtful to offer carrying my cycle over the rail bridge cos I was a woman a"gentleman" even though we jus had 2hours to cycle...we had real fun exploring the ashurst forest. Thank u Mr Spokes

We decided in the morning to hire some bikes in the new forest on our way back from our holiday so quickly searched online to find Mr Spokes cycle hire. I enquired via their online form about an immediate booking and within 5 mins they had emailed me to say they had reserved some bikes for us that they thought would be suitable. We were greeted with 2 of the lovliest people, some amazing bikes and a backpack kitted out with everything we might need! They gave us a bit of advice and sent us off for the day on a lovely route through the forest with their ready made, easy to read maps. We had an amazing day riding past all the wild ponies and cows in the forest and to the local villages, picking up a souvenir or 2 along the way! :-) I would definitely come back and I would definitely recommend Mr Spokes to everyone!

Mr spokes was very friendly-enthusiastic & helpful which made the whole experience of hiring a bike an absolute pleasure! The bikes we hired were in excellent condition along with the rest of their equipment. We hired four bikes from Mr Spokes as we stayed at Ashurst Campsite over the August Bank Holiday weekend. It was very straightforward to book and so easy to collect the bikes from the station first thing in the morning. Lisa was great at selecting the right bikes for us and our children and we were given a backpack with pump, repair kit and route maps. Really good service and will definitely use again when we are back next year.

We used Mr Spokes cycle hire this weekend while camping with family and friends in the New Forest. Mr Spokes and his team were very welcoming, friendly, funny and helpful. The bikes are all in great condition and well priced. We were given a backpack with lock and bike repair kit and a very detailed map with additional written instructions so we could follow several family friendly trails through the New Forest. There is a great system for strapping the maps to the handle bars of the bikes so that the information is easily accessible whenever you need it. There were ample routes to choose from and each gave us a beautiful exposure to the magic of the New Forest. We took a bit longer than expected on our route down to Brockenhurst but were able to board the train back to Ashurst - the train drops you right outside Mr Spokes. At the end of the trip there were 5 very smiley children aged between 9 and 4 ( and 4 very happy adults ) - thanks Mr Spokes!

I needed a mountain bike for 2 days cycling in the New Forest. From my first interaction on the telephone with Mr Spokes through to returning the bike at the end of our break I could not fault the excellent service I received. Not only was I loaned a really good bike, and given a number of routes, the owner took the time to talk us through some of the features of each route, pointing out places of interest, the best pubs and places to eat. These routes can be attached to the handlebars for easier navigation. Mr Spokes is clearly passionate about his business and wanting his customers to have a great experience. He certainly succeeded !!!!

We had a great day out on the bikes. The owners were friendly, funny and informative. We were provided with new bikes, helmets, a backpack containing a chain with padlock and bike repair kits and a detailed map of our chosen route. I would suggest arriving early so that you can take your time exploring the forest and villages to avoid rushing to get back (we took the wrong turn on more than one occasion but eventually managed to find our way back) . Highly recommended.

For bike rental the minimum required is bikes that work well, these were very good bikes and when coupled with great service - that is guaranteed to leave a smile on your face - and the provision of local maps, with great prices to boot, well, why wouldn't you. The land around is quite flat so very manageable for any level.

We hired two adult bikes & a trailer suitable for our toddler. Very friendly & efficient service, recommending some lovely bike rides in the immediate area. We will use them again when next visiting - not a bad price either!
