We visited this place in the beginning of February. Well, scenery is OK, but in Netherlands scenery is everywhere very beautiful. In winter time there is nothing to do here. In summer there are boats and canal cruises - should be interesting, but weather should be good to enjoy this attraction, otherwise - most probably will be a waste of time and money.

Pack a lunch, dress comfy and rent a bike for the afternoon. Riding through the canals, you get a vast view of the windmills and landscape. Take an afternoon to spend exploring, relaxing and enjoying the outdoors. The little gift shop is pretty cool too.

Wow! There are so many beautiful places to see in the Netherlands. This stands out. The reason I enjoyed it is because it is a sight that takes you back to how people used to live. Be sure and tour some of the old wind mills. Check out the beds built into the walls. Everything was so compact and clean! Listen, as the mill spins. Take some photos, and wonder why we don't use more wind energy. I found it fascinating that people still live in some of the mills. Photo op: Outside the gift shop there is a great shot looking down the canal to all the windmills.

We only had one day in Rotterdam and walked from our hotel across town to the river and caught a boat to the windmills at Kinderdijk. We arrived a little late in the afternoon but it was a pleasant boat trip and it was a very Dutch thing to do is go and have a look at the windmills. Well worth the boat trip.

Yes, this is the image of Holland as known to the world. Fantastic place and the amount of 19 (!) mills in this traditional landscape looks great anytime of the year. We had French, chinese, spanish , dutch and kenyan participants i our group and all of us agreed this was an place not to be missed and entitled to bucket list position, see Holland ? Just GO

Visited Kinderdijk in September and had a really great time. My friend and I took our bikes from Rotterdam over on the boat and cycled down the walk way between the rivers. It wasn't a very sunny day but still enjoyable and beautiful scenery. We packed our own lunch instead of finding somewhere there and just ate on one of the park benches along the river, which was ideal. We then went onto cycle to Dordrecht to eat at Villa Augustus, which I would also highly recommend!

On a windy day, when you can´t even walk the path or take a ride with a boat because of that strong Holland-wind, you don´t need to go Kinderdijk, because what you can visit is just a mill- within some equipments. It is interesting of course, but there is nothing else:(The path should be beautiful on a sunny day, but i don´t think i go a second time to prove it.

You can walk along the river bank and see a group of big & beautiful windmills. Great for a fun day out and to make great photos, especially on a good weather day. You can try to take a panorama photo which is quite dramatic too. No fee for this attraction but if you want to go inside one of the windmills then there is some fee. There is a carpark right at the front, which is very convenient.

The Kinderdijk mills are a beautiful site fore history and architecture lovers as well for regular travelers that want to know the Netherlands. Many of the mills are from the 1800 and are a beautiful site. I recommend going there by train or bus (ask google maps for the lines which to take, tickets can be purchased inside).

We stopped at Kinderdijk with our Viking River cruise and it was by far my most favorite stop. We visited in December and it was very cold but still well work the visit. There is a mill that you can visit and climb to the top. There is an nice visitor center but the best part is just taking in the scenery and the mills.
