这座要塞位于离市政厅不远的小丘上，是建于11世纪6米高的圆形的墙壁。墙上有好多枪眼，建筑中心为空地，那里有井和几棵树，以前这要塞也有洪水时避难所的作用。可以爬到墙上，也可以走一圈，从墙上面能看到市区的风景，从这个角度看到的圣潘克拉教堂特别好看。要塞周围都是草坪，在那儿休息也不错。据说，小丘是人造的，其脚下的运河畔排着一列气氛不错的餐厅，我们来要塞时，经过了那儿的一个餐厅，觉得很不错。

When you are on top of the wall, you have a great view over Leiden. For the rest there is not much to see.

The castle itself was used mostly for shelter during times of war and siege. The structure itself is not that interesting but the views are really nice. You can see across most of Leiden's city center and after having walked around it's ramparts and having soaked up the views, you can enjoy a drink at the lively koetshuis de burcht (especislly in summer) or the faded but really nice cafe de burcht. The summer and witer sunsets are equally stunning...

This castle/fortress is minutes away from Leidens centre on foot and worth seeing. Even visiting in winter we saw amazing views and it even had some interesting information plaques.

We visited the Burcht Castle and walked around the top. At different stops they have a sign with informtion about the history and what you are looking at. We enjoy history and this brought it to life for us. It is all outside so if it is raining maybe it's not as nice, but we had sunshine. Very much worth the effort of climbing to the top. (not such a climb, but you have to be able to do steps.

De Burcht gives you a great view and helpful layout of Leiden. Since the landscape is so flat, you are high enough to see for miles! There are two very nice restaurants/bars at the foot of De Burcht where you can sit outside and enjoy a cool beer.

The food is simple, but good. The mood is "Dutch". Well worth a visit. Especially good with a group of friends. In the Summer children can run around safely. Traffic is forbidden there.

This ancient building provides great views over various parts of Leiden and also gives a short description. Good to visit on a sunny day and great that there is a watering hole(pub) at the bottom of the steps.

Great elevation views of the historic city of Leiden! And dusk is the best time to visit!The small information plates show you why this citadel was the core of the city for centuries while it explains some of the other large buildings around it.

Leiden is a beautiful city, even more so while taking in the views of this high landmark. You are able to appreciate this very well maintained historical city from all angles.

You will see Leiden from a beautiful vieuw, and will enjoy it more when walking around the burcht, the mediëval churches, buildings and more. When you finish this fabulous experience go downstairs and have a cappuccino. At Every corner you wiil find somewhere to chill!

Situated near the Leiden Library, the Burcht, is like fort. It's free to visit and on a clean day you can quote a bit of Leiden from above. Nice place to visit ion a sunny day, sit in the grass and read a book or have a small picnic.

Using the directions facility of the app will take you to the wrong place. De Burcht is more in the town center.

In the middle of the city, climb on top of the castle walls and appreciate the surroundings from a high point of view.in each direction, a little map of buildings roofs tells you what you are looking at with a little history behind it.it's not a big attraction but if you walk through Leiden, it's definitively a place to see

This is a very unique place and it definitely deserves a visit.The only thing is that this site is tucked into a park surrounded by buildings, so it's very easy to miss it, even if you have a map! (That's what happened to us, anyway).Very beautiful view of the city.
