Waterfalls, colours of blue and green, fresh air, incredible views. Hope you are lucky to get to know this paradise without rain.
Between here and Fajazinde is a magical coastline with waterfalls, green rolling hills, gorgeous landscapes and if sunny, the views from up high are spell-binding! Go to the corn mill for a real trip back to the mid-1800s
Great views. Some hiking. There are a few shops as well. A very nice place to visit while you are here.
This area of Flores is wonderful and perfect for trekking but when I was there it was rainy badly all the time. If the weather is fine go to see Ponta Delgata, a 3hrs walk from Faja Grande, the waterfalls and the volcanic lakes halfway between Faja grande and Santa Cruz
Great on a sunny day! Only 280m walk from the road. Impressive after rainfall. You can swim at the base but there's also grass to lay down or have a pick nick.
Flores is the gem of The Azores. Small, easy to get around, filled with great cottage rentals, quiet walking trails festooned with waterfalls. Amazing flowers and geology to see. Faja Grande feels like the end of the earth. Waterfalls shoot over the high steep cliffs into the sea, as if the water is falling off of the flat earth. Silvio of Toursofflores was a great guide and driver. He is perfect in English, very well versed in everything Flores, and went out of his way to be sure we saw everything we wanted to see at the best times! Driving in and out of the mists. He also showed us a fantastic cottage to stay in while we where there. Great guy! Perfect Island peacefull and natural.
A fantastic setting. Surrounded by high cliffs peppered with waterfalls. Great swimming in the natural sea pools. A sunset to die for.
The west coast of Flores provide some stunning hikes. And in the evening to sit down at the seaside bar with lovely music and knowing that on the other side if the ocean is America.......
Not much to dislike - it has 2 or 3 little shops, a handful of restaurants that cover most tastes (as long as you like meat or fish - this is the Azores after all) and a view that is to die for....
A beatifully located village (several waterfalls seen from the sea coast), with possibility to make great walks or car tours. Very serene and offering a lot at the same time.
