I loved this park. The walk up to the top of the waterfall is filled with lots of beautiful sights and plenty of places for great photos. The bridge across at the top of the fall is really cool Well worth the trip!
This place was absolutely beautiful. Beware though the hike down the stairs was ok, the hike back up is killer. Make sure you have water and take a lot of breaks if you are not in the best of shape. There is plenty of room to lay a blanket down and have a picnic if you want to after you visit the falls. Beautiful falls for great photos.
One of the best places to visit in north Georgia. We've been there numerous times over the past 24 years we've been in Georgia. Was last there in October 2014 and enjoyed fall leaves and a wonderful brunch in the hill top restaurant with breathtaking views of the mountains and valleys in and around the park. There is a charge for entering the State Park, but if you are going to the hotel and restaurant on site there will be no charge and the gate will give you an entrance pass to proceed to the hotel and restaurant. There is indoor and outdoor seating at the restaurant. The climb up or down the hundreds of steps along the falls from the upper to lower level is breathtaking - view and climbing. LOL. A family friendly and dog friendly visit for all. There is ample parking, pull off sites to see animals and birds, great bird watching, and picnic tables galore along the road to the top and along the walking trails and steps to the top.
This area was absolutely beautiful. I wasn't expecting to find such a place just minutes from Atlanta.
Hike is straight up the hill and was a little busy but definitely great falls! I would recommend going all the way to the back of park and not to the lodge otherwise you have TONS of stairs to climb down!
As all state parks, there is a car fee for admittance. It's a great bargain at $5.00 per car load. This price is well worth the hike or car ride to the top of the mountain to see the falls. The hike takes about an hour, with spetacular views below.
beautiful lodge, great food, rooms were large and comfortable..absolutely gorgeous bathrooms, good water pressure, Clean, very friendly staff but the VIEW is out of this world, I sat in my bed looking out the window and directly into the big dipper, no craning my neck to look up I felt as if I could walk out and touch them
We traveled this past weekend (February 6 - 8, 2015, to be with our son and his family in celebration of our youngest grandson's birthday. The Lodge was just simply fabulous! Although my husband and I aren't able to hike like we used to, we enjoyed walking the easy trails and the lovely scenery. The experience from check in to check out was excellent -- the staff was friendly - the food delicious - the rooms comfortable and immaculate. Watching the sun rise in the morning over the mountains and set in the evening -- the colors and shadows were spectacular. The windows in the Lodge restaurant and throughout the building afford views worthy of Ansel Adams! And we were there in the dead of winter with everything bare and gray -- can only imagine what it will be like in the Spring and Fall! Can't wait to go back!
My wife and I took out three small children. I would recommend taking the Orange trail up to the top of the falls and the blue trail down. The blue trail says it is strenuous but it is not at all, coming down (it would be going up). Orange trail is kind of boring but easy going up, blue trail is beautiful coming down! Plenty of places to stop and rest and see amazing views of the falls!! MAKE SURE YOU BRING DRINKS AND SNACKS. We assumed there would be some at the top but both drink machines are empty with no drinks! No snacks either! Learn from our mistake and it makes for a great day!
This Park is simply amazing. We hiked up the 600 stairs to the Falls. It was taxing, but very much worth the work-out. Don't miss it, but it is packed on the weekends year round, for good reason. Great picnic areas abound.
I was rendered speechless in awe of this great wonder!!! It was just a wonderful sight to experience. I would recommend this trek for a soul stirring experience. I don't have the words to say how it feels to take it all in so I will say that it is worth the trip.
December weather in NE Georgia can be sunny or cloudy and cold… we lucked into a perfect blue sky picture perfect day to hike in Amicalola Falls State Park. We took the East Ridge trail to the top of the falls… less scenic but also less strenuous (no stairs). We opted to take the Appalachian Approach Trail on the descent (604 stairs). The middle and lower platforms offer spectacular views of the falls!
very pretty, easy stroll if do not do stairs, anyone can get to first viewing plateform which is the best view.
Excellent for hiking and view of the falls is amazing. Great family fun to see the wild bird exhibit up close.
There are trekking trails although I didn't take any of them. Looks like a good pace to take your kids and family. Kids would love this place.
