Nice layout Everyone was very helpful in the proo shop and the restaurant This place is a hidden gem. Conditioning is good not perfect but they are spending the money well. The clubhouse looks like Dresden but so what A developer went broke 120 years ago. I'm a golfer why would I care. I would play again in a hearttbeat
Golf course is great layout, greens are superb though not in great shape. HO, is apparently without funds, clubhouse is unfinished and fenced in, restaurant is self service and the range is well a pasture. Range balls are probably recycled water balls. The staff form cart person to restaurant and pro shop seemed less than thrilled to serve anyone, kinda like you are an imposition. All that being said, if you only want to play golf with nor frills or service it is a good deal.
Played two weeks ago and it was in horrible shape. Felt like the staff was annoyed that I was playing late. 3:00 to be exact. Tee boxes are crappy, fairways are rock hard and greens are hard and blotchy. High rates for conditions also. The last straw was stopping in today to hit balls and they actually want $9 for a large bucket with approximately 40 balls. $5 for a small with about 25. This place is a joke! You are not Innisbrook so stop acting and manage your course properly. Before you shut down for good!
Too bad...this is a good track that was intended to be a great course surrounded by an outstanding community of homes and a world class clubhouse. Come the recession combined with the leveraged financing on the development and foreclosure city. The half finished clubhouse sits there as a reminder of what might have been and the 100 or so occupied homes compared to the 1000+ planned look forlorn with all the empty land. No money for maintaining the course in the condition it was intended. Would not recommend this course unless you can't get on another or you want a cheap place to play.
I purchased a Group Golfer package for four. I called to make a t-time, identified myself as a Group Golfer package and asked for a t-time as close to 9:30am as possible since we were coming from 60 miles away. No problem. We got there 45min early, checked in and were told by the General Manager Group Golfers were not allowed to tee off untill after 10:00am. By then all t-times were filled till 10:40. We finally got off 1hr and 45 min after we were initallty given a 9:24am t-time. What is really disturbing is there were a number of open t-times avaliable between 9:30 and 10:00. Good relations would have plugged us in one of the earlier, open time slots. Because of the General Manager's attitude we will not be back, which further explains them operating out of single wide trailers and a open air cart barn with a three story, modern clubhouse sitting there among weeds not finished.
The golf course condition is good except for sand traps. It has a great layout and is challenging for golf ears at all levels. The club house is not finished, but there is eating facilities on site. Good value for the money.
Course conditions were very good. Playing areas were well groomed while the greens were receptive and fast. The staff encountered were friendly. I've been playing this course over the last 4 years when I come to Florida and without a doubt the course is in the best shape I've seen. I'll be playing here again for sure.
This course is going down hill fast. The general manager and assistant have terrible customer service. When you call for a tee time you can't even speak to someone at the course to get course conditions. This has caused us to drive to the course multiple times to find that it is either closed or cart path only. It is always muddy due to over watering and poor drainage in certain areas especially during the wet months.
The course is average for the area. management personnel has changed recently and become VERY UNFRIENDLY. Evidently they have managed to attract more play lately and thus are indifferent to customer service as a result. Book time at this course at your own peril. (Clubhouse has been unfinished for years now so any advance " deals" or package deals could easily be a poor choice and not honored by the "new" unfriendly management.
I have only played the Oaks once, but it was memorable as being a really nice lay out with several challenging holes. Greens and fairways were well manicured and I look forward to playing it again
I live on a GC in Hernando county and can't wait to sell my home and move to Hernando Oaks. The neighborhoods are beautiful and the golf course is superbly maintained with a great layout.Prices match the lowest in the area and the folks are friendly.
New Management has taken over ownership of the course. They are working very hard on getting the course in better shape. Work still needs to be done on the Sand/Bunkers but the overall course is in Good shape! They do have a nice putting area for practice before teeing off. Many trees line the fairways with some greens out of view. Bunkers are placed in appropriate places for most shots. Not a lot of rain this year so the fairway can really carry your ball, even if you didn't have a great shot. Keep an eye though on your ball, with all that roll it may go over a hill or into some rough grasses, never to be seen again! Rates currently run from $21 to $33 depending on your tee time. Use of electric carts is included with golf fee.
Hernando Oaks has a beautiful layout that includes tree-lined fairways and minimal water hazards. Rates usually run between $25 and $35 which is very reasonable for the area. The course is in good shape, especially considering the impact the economy has had on the golf industry.
It's a good layout but run with a very low budget..needs some TLC from ownership!
Nice course with decent putting green, chipping practice area and driving range. Playing here for the first time gives you somewhat of a challenge because the signs on each hole don't indicate yardage, layout or any hazards that may be up ahead. The scorecard also does not show the information on each hole! Still a nice course to play with rolling hills and large greens. Areas of long grass along some of the fairways including woods give you chances to lose balls. Nice course with friendly and helpful staff in the Pro shop as well!
