Deer Leap Winery has a nice selection of wines. The winery is close to several covered bridges in the area and many other wineries. Food selection was ok, wait time could use some work.
The Hotel told us about this place, the band was ok the wine was great. If you go there show them your room key if your staying at Ramada they offer 10% off
This was my third time here. It was great as usual. I live about 45 minutes away and it was well worth the drive. If you are looking for pretentious snobs or hoity toity people, GO ELSEWHERE! No wine snobs here; however you WILL find delicious wines (the Niagara Mist is a nice, light, slightly effervescent white wine), fabulous prime rib and down home people who (when you are respectful & not a drunken bunch of wine tour people) will treat you like family. The only issue we had this last time was a bunch of snobbish, drunken fools who were on a 3 weekend 30 winery trail who seemed to think they were somehow more sophisticated than this local place. Great part was they came in, drank and LEFT! Other than that, it was great as usual and we will be back.
The entry to this winery was surprisingly dominated by a independent jewelry saleswoman who bragged that this was a good location for her because the people who come to wineries have money and are drunk. Humor? Well, it was hard to 'get in the zone' at this winery after breaking away from her. The wine was average, the tasting bar service was good, the room was pleasant but the fireplace was unlit on the cold day we visited.
We gave this place one more try after going once last year, big mistake. The floors, chairs, menus and salt shakers were sticky, gross !The music was too loud for such a small place. The table behind us had a large group of locals and they were so loud and obnoxious, it was bothersome !Will not go back again !
Please don't go out of your way if you're on the Wine Trail to stop here. The place looks like a VFW hall or Moose Lodge! They brought our samples in little plastic medicine cups. I'm sure its a great place for the locals to come and eat, but I don't consider it a winery.
Had dinner here tonight. I had the seafood platter with twice baked potato(no up charge, delicious asparagus(no up charge), my husband had fried perch and we were both extremely happy with our dinners and service. Definitely will return! Then we shared chocolate coconut cake for dessert-yummmmm!
location ok more of a bar instead of a winery hubby and i had the sampler his is the reds i am the sweet fruity whites they have birds that are real cute to watch wine was good
Went here for dinner with friends on a weekend winery trip. Waitress was extremely nice and apologetic. However, due to a large party in the private room, it took us 90 minutes to get our dinners. Filets were well done and dry. The veggies were delicious as were the twice baked potatoes, red skin potatoes, and prime rib. Wine was ok. Music was very loud. Thank goodness we were inside, but every time the door opened we were blasted.
We had lunch there and was kinda put off by all the messy birds. Wine is less than average, atmosphere is not very enticing. With all the beautiful wineries why would you go to one sandwiched between two main roadways. Our waitress was very nice but it took a long time to get our food. we were the only ones there for lunch.
Nice time here seen the ad for this place at our hotel so we stopped by had a good band and the bartender was very nice
When you first drive up, it doesn't look like your typical winery that you would think of. But you know it is one when you walk in. They have great wine to choose from and have a huge selection too! I always get something off of their fruit wine or specialty wine list, only because they offer flavors that other wineries don't. So if you are in the Geneva area and looking to try a new winery, check this place out!
Had a great time, the wine and food was great! The Ramada Hotel told us about this time and if you show your room key they give you a discount.
We stopped for dinner & a glass of wine. There was live music and my husbands favorite-popcorn! We both ordered the perch dinner with homemade chips-excellent choice-leftovers were definitely eaten! Enjoyed a glass of Geneva Fusion while my husband tried the Niagara-both good choices! We were here in April this year as well-had the Eggplant Parmesan special with Cayuga wine, which was new to this winery-delicious all around!
We happened upon this place by chance. Good thing! Although don the outside it can be deceiving (like a diamond in the roufh). You think it's a local pub. Inside is where the treasure lies. Upon entering we were greated with a big "Hello" to which we responded "Hello". We then proceeded to sit down at the bar area and were welcomed by Stephanie & Miranda. (They were so warm and welcoming, like they were long time friends & we had never met them before.) We noticed they had a wine "menu" and a food menu. We also noticed they had "sampling trays" of fruit wines, novelty wines, grape varietal & dry. This intrigued us because as earlier stated we thought this was a "pub". So we opted for the novelty & the fruity sampling tray. Both were VERY economical & TASTY. (We even left with a few bottles.) Of course we couldn't drink without having something to eat. SO GLAD WE DID! THE CHEF & HIS CREATIONS ARE INCREDIBLE! Baked stuffed brie with an assortment of crackers, fresh strawberries & grapes, stuffed mushrooms to DIE for (using cream cheese, bacon & other delightlful items, placed so gracefully upon a lining of homemade pesto...yum!), and of course, the prime rib. So juicy, tender & perfectly seasoned you didn't need the au jus or horseradish! (we opted for the twice baked potatoe, & French fries for sides. Then added a lobster tail for good measure. One word: SENSATIONAL!) We couldn't believe how wonderful a gem this place is. Don't get me wrong, they also have "pub grub" wings & such, and I am also sure those are amazing too! As for beers, an endless list including a chocolate beer! I think everyone should take the time to make the trip to this little gem. Easy access off RT 534 & RT 90. YOU WON'T BE DISSAPOINTED! (Not to mention they have a unique gift area as well, and parrots! (Just go see for yourself!) We'l be back. To our new "best friends" at the bar, Stephanie & Miranda, see you soon!
