I made sure I reiterated "haunted" in the title. It was. Active, alive, absorbing our energy, responding with incredible results. My team and I investigated this place. We had seen it on Ghost Adventures. Approaching the mansion is a walk back into history, rich with conflict, pain, sorrow, courage and death. During our investigation, I offered whatever energy I had to the residual residents so they could provide some sign that they were present and attentive. My team offered theirs as well. We continued on through the house and shortly after, we were collectively drained of our energy. We had never felt or experienced this kind of drain before and we've investigated many locations for many hours. It made us become almost comatose with exhaustion. We decided to venture into the basement and were amazed at the shadow activity. In dim light, after taking 15-20 minutes to allow your eyes to adjust to the darkness, our entire team witness shadow figures like nothing we've ever encountered. The shadows moving across and up and down the hallway were highly visible as they blotted out the only source of light at the end of the corridor. Many were at the end of the hallway, while others almost seemed to pass directly in front of us. It was at this time when a female team member was touched and her shirt pulled from behind. The activity continued for almost an hour. When it began to subside, we continued our investigation. All in all, we feel that PPlace is well worth returning to for another investigation. It's truly an amazing place.
We have been on many ghost hunts across the country and well some of them are run down do to age, this place was just disgusting. It looks very nice from the outside but when you step in, its very apparent that no "picking up has been done in this place for at least a few years. The garbage was full of food and stunk and we were afraid to sit on the couch, it looked like it came from someones garbage. The whole house stunk of cat urine. Most rooms were littered with all kinds of item from books papers to stacks and stacks of old computer parts. One room was full of so many mattresses you couldn't hardly walk around in it. And the one room that they attempted to set up had 3 mattresses on the floor with stains all over them. This place has great potential if someone would just throw all the garbage away. It was so bad that we actually left early. Its one thing when a building shows its age and has not been repaired but this place was just being used to store unwanted items and garbage.
Prospect Place is a historical landmark. It was built with the intentions of being apart of the underground railroad, and the part it played in that is incredible. A friend and I have been to Prospect Place twice in the last year and plan to go again this upcoming year. We have done the overnight ghosthunts and we had a blast. The mansion is amazing and full of history. I know that they do historical tours during the day time that have nothing to do with the paranormal. I suggest that you do either one, the place is amazing and the staff have always treated us really well.
Prospect Place mansion was well worth the trip. We met the owner of this wonderful mansion, and he arranged for us to have a private historical tour for our group of 5. We greatly appreciated the opportunity to be able to walk through an important stop on the Underground Railroad, and we loved knowing that the proceeds from our tour go to restoring the grand old house. It holds so much history with regards to slavery, and it has strong paranormal ties to it as well- both of these topics were educational and entertaining/intriguing.
