Great trail to walk. It is a distance, and you might need a walking stick because there is some uphill to it but it is so worth it. you might meet some geese along the way. a very nice pond. A couple of nice places to sit. Make sure you go in the building. they have a nice place to listen to the birds and watch them eat. a very nice area.

Tucked away just outside sleepy Wilmot Ohio is an amazing park free and open to the puplic. We have been visiting The Wilderness Center for many years and have seen many changes. I always like to take the back way in, by way of Rt. 30 to Alabama Ave. It takes you through rolling hills, dense forests and Amish farmlands. My last drive, I just had to pull over to say hello to 3 shy Shire weanlings - soooo cute! But to shy to take a peice of apple from my hand. The trails are pretty easy, but you can hike as long as you like as they have expanded them now to both sides of the road. See if you can find the "three sisters" tree, it is said to be a magical place. There is now a planitarium, a top notch visitors center with restrooms and a great gift shop and picnic shelters that can be reserved. There are also picnic shelters across the street which are always open.Check out the feeding station observation room for up close views of birds and other critters looking for a free meal! Please do not feed the ducks/ geese any bread products over at the pond. This seemingly innocent pastime is sooo bad for them as it mucks up their digestions and makes them dependant on junk food.Check out the fire tower/ observation deck if it is open. It closes at times due to ice. This is a great place for anyone to visit and technically closes at dark, but there is a lower parking lot that stays open. Just dont turn it into a party place for Amish teens!

The Wilderness Center has several hiking trails, a small interpretive building and it hosts a number of outdoor clubs, such as hiking, birding and astronomy groups. It also has special events such as an apple butter festival or butterfly census. The hiking trails are in the easy to moderate range, and can be enjoyed by families, even those with small children. It is almost never crowded, so the trails are, by and large, yours alone. The building itself is pretty small, but they almost always have something going on, summer camps for kids, or presentations by people with expertise or experience in the outdoors. A great place for a nice walk by yourself, with that someone special or the whole family. To make the most of your trip, go online and pick up a schedule of events. Have fun!!

Love the grounds, but disappointed that the Center was not open. My mistake, didn't realize they were closed on Mondays!

We enjoyed the Wilderness Trail and look forward to trying out some of the many other trails. We also bought some fun gifts for our grandchildren in their gift store, and enjoyed watching the birds and other critters through the observation windows.

It was cold and trying to snow while we were here. They have many good looking trails and they had a neat bird viewing area that was really nice. They also had some really cool exhibits to look at. Would recommend.

Great place to bring the children and hike and commune with nature. Then afterward tour amish country or go to the famous Lehman's hardware and see many unique items.

My husband and I have been coming to TWC for probably over 20 years and now we bring our young sons. We all love the birdwatching room (from which we saw three deer yesterday), the nature display upstairs, finding the frogs in the small pond outside the front door, and of course the gift shop. A wonderful place to stop in Amish Country to escape the crowds and appreciate nature.

This is a nice park with a small lahe, excellent hiking trails and a great indoor interactive area for kids. The indoor wildlife viewing area is particularly relaxing.

The wilderness Center offers a great place to take the children to learn about the wildlife in Ohio. There is an interactive area along with an area where one can sit and watch the birds. The gift shop is reasonably priced.

great place for a family walk or some quiet time. The walk around the large pond is easy. Usually some wildlife to see, plus the fish. The building is great fun and clean. After a visit here you'll wonder why your not more active.
