This small and charming museum is very nice to visit and gives the visitor an idea how Albany used to be when it was a more prosperous town. Especially fascinating is the display for the shoe shine business. Can't imagine how difficult life must have been for those folks more than 50 years ago.
Very interesting museum. Covers much of the Willamette Valley. Excellent displays, helpful staff, fine small library and easy access. This is a little jewel.
This was so interesting -- I learned about the WW II camp Adair. I was amazed at the building in which it is housed because it is concrete and block and had been moved from another site. There are descriptions of when Albany used to host huge logging festivals.
There is so much to see and experience in the new displays that you need to allow at least an hour to browse and several hours to read and absorb all the local history information
Free but worth a donation.I have taken my grandchildren here and they learned a great deal about the historyof the area. Take the time to ask about the interesting videos. My Brother (ex Navy) was visiting from Arizona and had a great time. We watched a video on Camp Adair (WWII training camp). We drove out to Camp Adair and enjoyed a peaceful moment at the memorials.
you can spend a lot of time learning all relevant things Albany. (They do have a place to sit and take a break)Just a very interesting place. There are people to explain things and relate many interesting facts.THERE IS NO ADMISSION CHARGE! Knock yourself out
Lots of great displays. Albany has one of the highest popultions of historic architecture. This is a great stop to learn more about the history of the town and learn why there is a "Montieth" district and a "Hacklman" district!
This small museum is staffed by a wonderful group of people. We stopped at the museum "just to waste sometime" while on vacation. but found the museum very informative. The staff helped me understand many interesting things about the local area. Well worth the trip.
