golden and silver falls

I have been to these falls a couple times in my life but thats maybe because I grew up in Allegany. The hikes to the falls are fairly easy but depending on what trails you take some of them are a pretty steep hike up, you can hike up to the top of one of the falls...I think Golden Falls. My relatives used to live behind the falls so I love it due to it being related to my family history. Last time I visited Allegany I heard the road was close just before the falls and that there was so much damage that it probably wouldn't be fixed. I believe you can still go to the falls you will just have to hike a lot further! Before heading to the falls definitely print out a map from google maps, people get confused with the winding roads. About a mile or two before you reach the falls the road is gravel and parts are so narrow its more of a one car road..people live back there so just be cautious and take it slow around the corners. :) Oh and last time we went my dad found Cougar(Puma, mountain lion) poop on the trail. So after we found that we didn't stay to long.

The drive out there is not the greatest, road keeps winding and you feel lost for about 10 miles but just keep cruising till you get to the parking lot. The trail head splits as soon as you start the hike, you can go to both falls if you put a pep your your step...it should not take longer than a couple hours to see both falls! I really enjoyed seeing the falls, some of the best I have seen in Oregon!
