I've driven past this gallery a few times and never stopped but always wanted to, so I finally did it. I pulled up, got out and the owner, Mack, was just closing up shop...he said "please come in!", I felt bad but he insisted so I came in. What a lovely gallery! A huge, beautiful space. Gorgeous art pieces. And a very large variety of things to see. Mack was so kind and lovely. He walked around with me and chit chatted, told me about the pieces, answered all my questions...such a nice man and an incredibly talented artist! I adore his bronze statues! He suggested I take a different route that went around Coos Bay and included some beautiful gardens...great suggestion Mack! Thanks! Great place! And thanks for letting me in after hours!!!
Visiting the southern Oregon coast, I've driven past this gallery a dozen times, but never stopped. Oh, what had I been missing?? We were greeted by Mack Holman, the gallery owner and sculptor of the wonderful bronze statues that adorn the property. The gallery itself is in a historic building right on Highway 101 across from the Siuslaw River, that has been restored by Mack himself. Mack was gracious enough to walk around with us, telling us about the art and artists who have work featured at the gallery. Photography, sculpture, stained glass work, jewelry, textile art and ceramics are featured here. It was a lovely mix of art, truly not to be missed! There was no pressure to buy, no slick sales talk, just honest perspectives of the art and artists. While we took in many sights this day of travel, the Tsunami Gallery was a great highlight for me, and I will certainly return.HIGHLY RECOMMEND this gallery for a visit, give it a try!
The owner, Mac is the man who happens to cast all the life-size beautiful bronze pieces on the outside and inside of the gallery. He also renovated this old 100 year old building and made it so charming. (If I were him I'd open a space to sit and enjoy a beverage maybe)Plan on looking at the beauty these artists have created. So much of what is presented is so outstanding and intriguing that because of being there my day was quite honestly elevated. I did not expect that. And, isn't that what we all hope for when we go out to look at the works in an art gallery? It's a space that is very large. And a gorgeous location as well, inspiring -- a real find. Right across the street from the Siuslaw River. A no pressure -- fun experience.
Quality its that simple great selection all quality artists great staff knowledgeable you won't be disappointed
This wasn't a tourist gift shop but a proper gallery with a good selection of sculpture, ceramics, textile art, photography and some smaller jewellery pieces. The owner-artist is knowledgeable and can tell you about each one of the artists represented. While somewhat influenced by its coastal location (gorgeous kelp wall-hangings and really fun duck sculptures), this is a well-rounded gallery with plenty to interest. I highly recommend this if you are passing through on the coastal route.
As we were driving down the coast, we had to stop to see the Tsunami Gallery just because of the name; expected driftwood or glass floats or stuff washed up on the beach. What a delightful surprise to see so much fantastic art in so many mediums! It was like opening a geode - no hint of the inside from the outside.
