claremont station - historic 1927 santa fe depot

Claremont Heritage offers tours of historic Claremont that meet in front of the depot on the first Saturday of each month at 10:00. Until I took that tour, I didn't realize the significance and influence of the depot. Well worth the $5. It's a beautiful building, restored largely to it's original condition...including the lovely tiles lining the walls.

Watched over the years as it went from a working train station to falling into disrepair to it's current glory. History tells of a time when it was the local citrus train stop with the now renovated packing plant a block away. A great representative of time long passed building.

This is Claremont's old train station. It served to anchor the town and became a hub of the transportation to the area. It is a beautiful old depot, the building has been preserved and the current metrolink is next to it. Would be nice to have it used more! Santa comes at Christmas time and other various things happen but could be utilized more! Let's find a good use for this grand building!

Would not go out of my way unless you were a huge train enthusiast. It is a cool old building but, that is about all that is there. Neat architecture but small overall.
