We had a very nice wedding at the park other than the women's bathroom overflowing and the circuit breakers continually snapping in the unfinished dressing room. The real bad part is that the people running it. The $200 cleaning deposit we gave them two months ahead of the wedding was cashed the next day. We were meticulous with the clean up and were to get our check back. When I called them the first time 10 days later, they said it will be mailed the next day. It's now been a month and no check. I have called three more times and only get an answering machine and no return call. So off to court we go. HUGE hassle that should not have to happen. VERY shady people.

If you enjoy finding an incredible park in an unusual location, this is for you. Sterling city was the founding home of Diamond Match Lumber company. It is about 45 minutes above Paradise over a paved but very winding road. Once into this somewhat of a ghost town you'll find it. It has waterfalls, lawn areas, benches, and wonderful sculpture in unique locations to enhance your visit. It even has a bocce court! It is so rural it gets little "play", but the quiet beauty and three ponds makes it so worth the trip. There is even a chapel area that is used for weddings. You can call to make reservations for the Bocce court if you wish, but I don't think it is necessary. Bring a picnic are spend a relaxing day in a spot close to heaven.

Dedicated to an Italian mother, Clotilde Merlo Park is a private park that allows visitors and sometimes wedding events. The grounds are full of flowers, trees, meadows and waterfalls. It breaths serenity and peace.
