Visited this winery due to a recommendation by another person who raved about their restaurant "Pinnacle". Well we didnt get a chance to eat at the restaurant due to not having a reservation and the waiting list to eat on the weekend being months long.We decided to taste the wines and we were not disappointed. We were helped by Caroline who really gave us the story behind each wine and she was just a really pleasant person. The tasting room was nice and there are three bars to have your tastings. There is also a outdoor sitting area where you can go out and enjoy the view. I purchased 2 bottles of wine and joined their wine club. I would recommend this winery to anyone visiting Temecula
We randomly chose Falkner Winery on our visit to the Temecula Valley wine country (with a 2 for 1 coupon from the visitors center in Temecula). The winery sits on a hilltop, just off the main thoroughfare Rancho California. For $15 we got six wine samplings for each of us, plus a free souvenir wine goblet, and two $5 coupons to be used to purchase their wines. What a deal! The views from the outdoor balcony were outstanding, and there is a grassy shady area also with picnic tables. A restaurant adjoins the wine tasting building. Highly recommended.
Stopped by for a quick tasting without any previous knowledge of Faulkner. A few tastes later and we were hooked. Several of the wines were good, but the Luscious Lips Red is FANTASTIC and we not only bought a few bottles but also signed up for the club. Teri, our Wine-Giver-Person (???), was the nicest WGP we've ever had... and after A LOT of stuffy WGP's she was a refreshing change. Stop by, enjoy the view, try the warm Luscious Lips with spices and you'll be hooked too!
Beautiful view, luscious wine, great staff and nice music always. Great selection of the reds we prefer but nice whites are available so we can come with friends who like whites. Staff are knowledgable about area and wines. We love the restaurant but have not tried the bbq while listening to the music. Bbq looks very tasty but I rather not eat out of take out containers. The musicians are always good and seem to enjoy performing. Thought about joining the wine club that only requires 2 bottles a shipment but I don't think 2 for 1 coupons is a great perk. Parking is paved. We will be back. Husband found a 2 for 1 coupon on his phone, very nice.
Falkner Winery was near the last stop on our day of wine tasting, by this time we were getting tired, but the place has such a great view. It's located near the top of the hill with an amazing view of the vineyards, very nice breeze out on the deck just outside the tasting room. The wine was nice, service was good too. They had a wedding going on during our visit, guests and the bridal party all over the place, but they still had the staff to service the tasting room with no problems.
Definitely one of the best place to dine in the Temacula. The views are great, the restaurant is very nice, clean and spacious. We had lunch there about 2 weeks ago and the food was truly delicious : ahi tuna salad wraps with mango sauce, the halibut was very good with the tapenade (a bit overcooked, but no drama) and the cheesecake was truly tasty. As far as wine goes, thei selection is wide, the quality is fine, not quite spectacular yet, but this might change in the next few years.A mention to the service that was simply excellent, professional, attentive and timed-well....one of the rare times we had great service in California !
We had a really nice wine tour and tasting with Tammy as our guide. She was able to rearrange our schedule to do the tour first since we were early for lunch. That worked out perfectly. She was very friendly and knowledgable. We took our time and she answered all of our questions and then made some great suggestions for our tasting. We ended up buying 3 bottles of wine from this vineyard where the other tastings we did fell a little short of what we liked. We had a diverse group with a young adult and 2 adults with different tastes. Lunch at the Pinnacle was nice as well.
The cellar was perfectly set up to receive and welcome the large group we had. The host greeted every member and answered any questions about the winery. The staff maintained the room clean and free of any empty glasses. When the time came to move to the restaurant, the seating was elegantly displayed and the room was comfortable for the warm night. The food was well prepared and tasteful overall had a great time. Thank you Faulkner winery.
Great experience. We actually stayed a few hours here. For $15 we got 6 tastes logo glass and a coupon for $5 over the purchase of a bottle of wine with each tasting. So we paid for two tastings. They give you 6 poker chips and you can redeem then for each taste. This gives you the chance to roam the grounds and enjoy the view if you wish and come back for your next taste without missing a beat. It was Memorial Day and they had the outdoor tasting bar open and were cooking barbeque and had a band playing. It was around 11:30pm and not crowded at all which was a surprise. We stayed at the outdoor bar and enjoyed chatting with the pourers and some fellow tasters. They didn't seem to be too diligent about taking a chip during every pour. We stayed for the barbeque and enjoyed the views which are great, and the band which was pretty good as well. Will definitely be back. We ended up buying the Chardonnay, Merlot and their new release, White Luscious Lips.
Great staff, welcoming, gracious, nice wine club room and beautiful grounds. The wine falls way short. Too bad, its just not worth the trip up if the wine doesn't compare to the view! No fee for our group as we had 2 members and I am industry............
I never write reviews- good or bad. You can check my status on Yelp, I'm a noob. But while doing research for my upcoming wedding reception, Falkner Winery gave me a reason. I've lost count of the number of venues that I have called regarding pricing and so forth, and never have I encountered such a rude and unaccommodating event coordinator. Worst bit, it was the owner. As soon as I stated my venue/catering budget of $10k for 200 people, it was laughed at and I was told I'm wasting my time- that no winery that she's aware of could work with that. No "I'll see what I can do", or "That might be tough, but here are some options", or even "I'm sorry but... have you considered...?" Not even her asking if there was any wiggle room on our end- would I have been willing to spend more if they had shown willingness to work with us? Gladly. However, they just lost our business period. Sad since we are locals, who love wine country as well as most of our guests. Guess we know where we are never going back to or recommending. Poor form, Falkner. Take a class on professionalism.
Great wine, great people, we went there three times, everything something new and exciting comes out. It's a great place for a wedding, birthday or just to hang out. we had lots of fun.
After leaving a not so good experience at another winery that will remain nameless in this review, I decided to stop here in hopes that my experience in Temecula wine country would be restored to the pleasant and fun expectation I had going into it. All I can say is thank you Falkner! Upon arrival to the tasting bar the bartender was ready to help and the first selection was poured! The bartender gave some information about each wine as he was pouring it. This helped educate us new to the wine world people. The “Hot Lips” wine was intriguing so I asked about trying that one and the bartender recommended that we save that for last. After establishing a trust through pleasant conversation with the bartender and other patrons I was happy to take his recommendation! Now to the last tasting and the “Hot Lips” wine…..AMAZING! It was so delicious! So delicious that I even took home a package, ok three packages, it was a Black Friday special what was I supposed to do? I believe the bartender was named Shelby, he was nice, pleasant, knowledgeable, and most importantly made you feel right at home. I will definitely visit again!
This is the third of our favourite wineries (with Mount Palomar and Baily's) and we had a meal in the restaurant, which turned out to be really really good. Served by attentive and friendly staff, we had a satisfying meal with recommended wines and had a very good time. Bought some Syrah which is good this year and got to keep the tasting wine glass. Also benefitted from a 2 for 1 offer for tasting.
The fifth winery we visited was Falkner Winery. This stop represented the midpoint of our two-day tasting adventure and was the first winery where we generally enjoyed all the wines we tasted. Tasting fee is $15 (standard in Temecula) but you can download a 2 for 1 coupon directly from their website. The tasting room was smallish by Temecula standards but was not crowed when we were there. The tasting room staff was efficient and friendly but did not spend a lot of time giving me overly detailed descriptions of the wines I was tasting. I actually prefer not to get verbal descriptions of tasting notes as they rarely match what I actually experience. For your tasting fee you get to select six wines off their menu (another standard Temecula practice). They make a lot of different wines so the ability to customize your tasting is a good approach. My wife and I typically will select a different set of wines to taste allowing us to broadly sample their portfolio if that is what we want to do. Overall the wines were well put together and enjoyable. They produce the expected selection of big reds and a variety of whites wines as well. Of all the wineries we visited in Temecula Falkner made the best wines for price with many of their good wines priced under $40. We bought a 2008 “Amante” super Tuscan style red blend (Sangiovese, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc) and a 2010 Rock Creek Vineyard Syrah. Both these wines were highlights of our tasting.Falkner was not a palatial as many of the other wineries we visited, which makes the atmosphere a little more relaxing. They have tables outside where you can sit and enjoy some lunch (we like to pack our own lunch so this was nice) and on the day we were there a jazz musician was outside playing some fun music. This winery would be a nice stop for the hard-core wine taster but also appeared to be family friendly.
