Your on an Island in the Pacific Ocean, 15 minutes by ferry to downtown San Diego or 12 minutes by car over a spectacular bridge. Bring coins for parking if you take you car. The views are unbelievable! You are surrounded by one of the world's biggest Navy bases and one of the wealthiest places to live in California. I would recommend at least four hours at least and please take the ferry. It worth it.
I could actually spend a couple of days at Ferry Landing! The view is incredible! We even saw some harbor seals (someone called them that)! I enjoyed the unique shops. My favorite is Mascot Boutique. All the bling you want on a purse cap, shirt, etc! I bought the coolest cap there! It was nice enough that I wore it to Vigilucci's!
Quite a few tourist type and specialty shops... also, a few restaurants that range from basic to fine dining & notable wine lists. Nice place to visit for a couple of hours or and evening out. As a bonus the ferry runs like "clock-work" to and from San Diego.
Start by taking a 5 minute Ferry from the Embarcadero directly to this quaint village like setting on the Eastern edge of Coronado Island. The shops are all one of a kind small treasure troves filled with beautiful and often hand made items. The variety of eateries / restaurants range from barbecue to seafood to Italian, sandwiches, burgers and informal to table service; inexpensive to moderate in price. Beyond that, the views of San Diego Bay, harbor and downtown are fantastic!
Beautiful selection of small shops and restaurants. Well stocked tourist shop with everything San Diego! The best cafe mocha from the Coronado coffe company stand I have ever had! The best views of down town San Diego you'll ever see, especially at night with all the lights. But best of all dogs are welcome!
We took the ferry from San Diego, which was cheap and about a 10-15 minute ride total. You can also drive there via the Coronado Bridge. It is mostly shops and a few restaurants. The coffee stand has pretty good coffee. We rented a two seated bench bike to take down the bike path, which had great views. Beware the information desk tries to talk you into going to a time share presentation, but will answer questions about the area and give you a map.
This is a nice stop befor making your way down to the Del. A lot of cute shops and restaurants to visit with plenty of public restrooms available which is a plus. There is a small information desk with maps and someone who will help you with any questions you have.
We used the Coronado Ferry to cross San Diego bay. We were able to catch a free shuttle to the Hotel del Coronado. Then we were on to the beach. The ferry was on time. The staff was friendly. You could sit on the second deck in the open air or down below if you did not wish to be outside. Returned to San Diego using the shuttle also and got to view a lovely sunset. Great view of the whole city sky line from the ferry.
Nice little area with shops and restaurants to explore while waiting for the ferry. We personally weren't interested in many of the shops but it was always busy and nicely kept.
Tourist trap. Beautiful view of city but that's about it. A few places to eat and shop but nothing great. Definitely better places to visit
Not sure how to convey without confusing my thoughts or sending mixed signals on our "personal" experience. The shops (were very touristy, more of the same one business after another) no different than "any other" tourist trap! Their customer counter attempted to sell me a time share ( :( ) when I asked about things to do in the "landing" area. A bit distasteful! The pier was hardly memorable....the ferry I suppose would be the highlight, great way to access the Midway or hotels across the water. Downtown Coronado was a lot more pleasant...really quaint with some great restaurants and unique businesses. The ambiance was a lot nicer as well. All in all I would not return to the "landing" unless I was going to utilize the ferry. Not a fan of the environment nor the feeling that we came away with :( .......
Ferry landing has boutiques and souvenir shops, restaurants for casual or fine dining. A short walk to nearby grocery for sub sandwiches, macaroni salad, and chips. We sat on the grass ate and watched the ships and sailboats on the bay. Great afternoon and lunch under for $15
This was a neat experience, about 10-15 minute trip across the bay to Coronado Island. Definitely a worth while thing to do while in San Diego.
This is a great place to visit once you come over the Coronado bridge. This spot has plenty of free parking and it also has many places to take photos from and of. This is where the ferry comes and goes from San Diego. There are a number of nice eating establishments here as well as boutique shops.
We re-visited Coronado Ferry Landing this afternoon after many years' absence. We used to live in San Diego County, and the Landing was one of our favorite places to hang out for an afternoon. It is hard to beat the view of San Diego's skyline from the Landing. The setting is breath-taking, plus there are a number of good eateries, bars for Happy Hours, bike paths for strolling or riding, kayaks to rent, and much more. Bring a blanket and picnic lunch, and take it all in.
