Got together with a friend to plan a fun day for our kids during Christmas break. We thought sledding be great! Checked out the Bottineau Winter Park for hours and rates. The kids were so excited and after driving more than an hour we arrived only to be told there was a waiting list for tubing so long that we would not be able to sled. The kids were crying and disappointed we left very unhappy! I mentioned to the lady at the desk that perhaps their web site should let people know that when they arrive there is no guarantee they will get to sled! All the web site says is "during the busiest times short waits may be experienced". It has been years since I have been there, after today's experience I do not plan to go back.
Small hills, but a great way to spend a winter's day on the flat plains of ND.
Easy to find. Fair price. Helpful staff. Lots to do. Tubing, skiing for all levels, and snowboarding.
Have skied and sleded here. Not a world class ski hill, but fun for a day in ND. A good tune up for going out west. The sleding is a blast! $12 bucks for 2 hours and it goes by fast. You get pulled up the hill so you hardly have to walk. The hill seems to be on the nonwindy side of the mountain. The day we went there was 30mph winds and when we were sleding we hardly noticed them. They have 3 sled runs all accessible from the same tow rope. Each one a different level of speed. The third one you get some nice air off of.
We went sledding here on New Year's Day. There are three runs just for sledding and there's even a tow rope for the sleds/tubes that hooks on; you don't have to hold anything, you can just relax and enjoy the ride up the hill. We had a blast!
