There is the small museum to see about the towns history but the whole town is great. There are descriptions of who used to live in the town. artifacts like an old salvaged anchor, and beautiful views. A few small stores, including a wonderful weaving shop.

Surprised to find such a great museum of the Port Gamble area. Enjoyed all the displays, really a gem. Docent sitting at the desk had lots of good information about the area. Museum is below the General Store and Café...make sure you stop there as well.

While on the Kitsap Tour, we made a stop in Port Gamble. Our guide suggested we visit the museum (the admission was included in the tour) to get an overview of the town's history. Although it wasn't very large, it was interesting and informative.

Unfortunately went to eat at the Cafe and it was closed. Check days that they are open before going. For us they were closed on Monday and Tuesday. Cute little town. Didn't stay long because we were hungry.

This is a nice small museum located underneath the general store in town. There is a sign for it but many people miss going here since the shops up on the street are more obvious. It has several exhibits on the founding of the town as a company town for Pope & Talbot Lumber and the continuing history into current time. We especially enjoyed hearing more of the history from the docent at the front desk. She grew up in town and still lives here, being able to add a lot to what is presented in the exhibits. Very worthwhile for the $4.00 admission.

A great little museum explaining the history of this charming company town settled by transplants from Maine. It was very well done and cost a whopping $3.00 pp.

The museum has reconstructed the master bedroom of Admiralty Hall (1887-1940), and the lobby of the Hotel Puget (1903-1963) which do a great job of transporting you back through time to another era. Most of the displays don't offer much in the way of interpretation, but actually very few need explanation. Allow 30 minutes to see all the exhibits. They also have a small selection of books for sale on the town's history.Admission is only $4 for adults and $3 for seniors and children.
