the family that owns this is so helpful. Tell you where you can go for restaurants and entertainment. Where to ski in winter. Whats going on in summer. Service is really the best and a nice quiet 9 hole course that you see nature right with you as you golf.

Hi 'golfinggrannie'. Thank you so much for taking the time to post a review on our course. We're happy you had a great time and will use your feedback to help our 'first timers' navigate our unique set-up for the front and back nine in the future. We hope you'll stop in again soon and will have a chance to put your now 'local knowledge' to good use. We love having guests from BC, both from the Vancouver area and the beautiful Okanagan! Thanks again for your valuable feedback.Linda

We have golfed here several times. it is a nice 9 hole course with the option of 19 holes teeing off from different tees. Go early in the summer as it can be hot on the course. Deer abound. The only negative is that there are usually sprinklers going that need to be avoided!

Probably one of the nicest 9 hole courses your going to find. It is to bad we did not have time to play it as a 18, they have different tee boxes that completely change the hole, a great idea. I just hope the recent fires around Winthrop did not damage the course. I will be back to play it as a 18 hole course.

This course is 9 holes but you play it twice with different tees for 18 holes. Course was in great shape, couldn't complain about the views either. If you plan to walk, plan ahead the course is hilly. No water available on the course.

A treat of a mountain course. Beautifully maintained and low priced. It's a country course non pareil with a friendly staff and you'll leave having had fun and maybe having seen a deer or 2 along with the mountain vistas. I pulled a cart over 9 holes and got in a good workout.

We just returned from spending 5 days in Winthrop at the KOA camp ground. About 3 years ago we found this wonderful course and played 18 holes. This year we planned our 5 day "get away" with specific plans on golfing a couple times at Bear Creek. Well, we had such a good time, and love the well kept course, VERY challenging course. We couldn't golf twice, we golfed 5 days. Staff was very friendly, carts were clean, and most important was a laid back, unrushed, beautiful course. We saw deer looping across the course every day. This morning there was one laying down on the fairway and didn't move until we had hit our ball and started down the fairway. What a wonderful time we had, and will look forward to another trip to this great part of the state of Washington.

What a great course!! Excellently maintained, challenging yet fun, unique holes and very reasonably priced. It was quite an experience to have multiple deer all over the golf course without any skitishness at all. Beautiful and tranquil.

We stopped off in Winthrop while on a 10 day, unstructured trip through parts of Canada, Washington and Idaho. We took our golf clubs with us and this was the third course we played. It was in great shape, with great views and well-kept greens. The staff was very friendly and we wound up playing 18 holes instead of our usual 9. Other reviewers have said it is a hidden gem and it truly is. There were not many players when we played, late in the day, so we really enjoyed playing at our own pace. A very enjoyable round of golf!

We played this course intending to hit 9 holes only during a long weekend stay in Winthrop at River Run Inn and Cabins. (A fantastic place to stay - see seperate review). This course is fantastic! We had little expectation - we often stop at little 9 hole courses or pitch/putts and enjoy the charm and the opportunity to play. But this course is a legitimate challenge combined with vistas that rival any course we've played in the Northwest. It is well maintained and was in impressive condition for early April, especially considering tough Methow winters. One of the most impressive surprises was the design of the course and creative challenges on the front 9 versus the back 9. This is not a 9 hole course with simple or mediocre tee box placement changes between 1-9 and 10-18. The back 9 plays completely differently than the front; with unique individual distances, obstacles, and strategy required. This gem of a course plays like a full 18 hole course in regards to challenge and enjoyment. Though a second outing was not planned in our weekend, we were unable to stay away and played again the next day. The staff is friendly and neighborly, the carts are well appointed, clean, and in great condition, and the views are amazing from anywhere you stand on the grounds. This is a must visit for any golf enthusiast regardless of level of play. WE WILL BE BACK!

If you visit Winthrop and don't golf at Bear Creek you are missing out on one of Washington state's most magnificent hidden gems! This is a 9-hole course but don't let that fool you - this course is truly a creative masterpiece! Wide open fairways and spectacular views. The owners take great pride in providing golfers with a remarkably well-maintained golf course, interesting golfing, a friendly atmosphere and enough of a challenge to keep you coming back. We planned to golf just once while visiting Wenatchee and went back the next day for more! It's well worth the trip from Seattle! Views that rival Gold Mountain in Bremerton. Stay at Sun Mountain Lodge or River Run Inn and make this a golf trip.

We always top our romantic Winthrop getaway off with at least 9-holes at Bear Creek. The pace of play is a little slow but it's always fun and challenging. But, someone said, somewhere that if you're in a hurry then golf isn't your game. The pro shop is always friendly.

When my wife & I are in search for sun we run to Winthrop. Its a bonus to find a golf course like Bear Creek. The fairways are wide & run into each other giving a struggling golfer like me a chance. The greens are in great shape a challenge for anyone. The most impressive thing is that my wife & I never feel pressured because of other golfers. Sometimes it seems as though it is our personal course. The staff on & off the course was very friendly.

This was a great start when the employees in the clubhouse are very nice. The other guy I golfed with didn't bring clubs and their rental clubs are just really nice. The golf carts are in really good shape and are clean. The nine hole course which can be played as a eighteen is a nice clean course with a driving range, a practice putting green, and what I think a practice chipping area. The course is basically in the middle of no-where. Very close to town too. A very nice and enjoyable game of golf.

We're so sorry you had this experience a few years back. We owned the course from 1981 to 2007 and purchased back again in May of 2012. We hope you'll give us a chance to welcome you again and serve you in a way that is memorable for all the right reasons. I know it's hard to change a first impression, but we'd be honored to have a chance to reshape yours. The course is looking great this year. We think your 2013 experience will be totally different from the one you had in 2011. Sincerely, LindaOwner
