We stopped here on our way home from Rapid City. We have been to several air and space museums and this one was really good. It is so cool to walk right up to the aircraft outside. Inside there is a cockpit that you can sit in. That was my son's favorite part! Definitely a great place for families!
Lots of aircraft and the chance to walk right up to them. I never imagined that I would have the chance to walk under the 8 engines of a B-52. A great exhibit.
We park and there it is: the powerful Black Bird is facing us, the view is overwhelming. It's exciting, building enthusiasm and pride. All those feelings just grow as we walk through the premises: exhibits are well documented, I'm not exactly sure about their organization, but they are interesting and educational. And they make you feel proud to be American. I loved the missile carrier! Great place, do not miss it, $7/person is well worth it.
Great place to visit with family and friends cheap and very knowledgeable! Must see when visiting eafb!
Went with my wife, our five year old and our three year old - we all loved it and ended up spending much more time than originally anticipated. The size of some of those planes are mind boggling. The indoor area has a lot of fun interactive things that the kids loved plus a nice souvenir shop.
We stopped out on snowy Veterans Day, enjoyed taking a look around. The woman at the desk was friendly and informative. Appreciated the hot coffee and the tourism info available there. Look forward to getting back when the weather is nice so we can enjoy an outdoor tour of all the planes.
Wonderful information.Super artifacts. And good displays.Open many days. Good hours. Easy parking. The planes were so detailed, and so clean inside. The staff was very helpful.
There are decommissioned aircraft outside to read about and view. The museum portion was laid out well and they had knowledgeable staff and volunteers to assist.
I am retired Air Force (30 years) and this museum brought back many fond memories. Good static displays outside, interesting exhibits inside and a nice gift shop. Many neat things to see and much history to absorb. I am really glad we made the stop on the way to Wall Drug and the Badlands.
Easy, quick stop off the interstate and the planes are located outside for a free viewing. We did not go inside as we had already seen a missile bunker at Interior. It's a must see for those who love planes and military history. We spent about an hour here. You can walk on the paved paths or seems you could even drive some of it and view from your car.
it's a must see museum!!! lots of planes my favorite is the B25. also a lot of history. there is also a tour of Ellsworth Air Force Base and the Minuteman II Missile Silo. you get to go down into the silo and see the missile first hand, it's a great experience!!!!
We really enjoyed all of the exhibits, especially the B1 bomber and simulator. Every visit is a history lesson; we learn more every time we go. Short on time? No problem. You can spend as much or as little time as you have to spare.
This museum is located next to the Ellsworth AFB and while visiting we were lucky to see a pair of B52's take off, still impressive aircraft and a B1 landThe majority of the aircraft are outside in the grounds and as we visited on a hot sunny day we could have not asked for more, the aircraft are well looked after and run from WWII to the B1, there are also some indoor displays which we found very interesting, especially all the different types of aircraft that have been based here. Our visit ended with the gift shop, we bought several items and were served by a very nice young man who was very efficient and pleasant to deal with. Well done to all at the museum and keep up the good work
This museum is mostly outside exhibits of many types of aircraft. It is only a fence away from but outside Ellsworth Air Force Base. They have A B2 bomber, B52, B29 and many more full size planes on display outdoors.Inside they have some interesting displays and a nice gift shop.We were lucky enough to be there when several B2 bombers took off from Ellsworth AFB.If you are in the area and you like airplanes I would recommend it.
This museum has an excellent display of aircraft located outside. Inside the museum they have on display an aircraft, engine and numerous historical exhibits. They also have excellent service and items in their gift shop.
