Great place to go that isn't far from Greensboro Charlotte and surrounding area.Bring a picnic and let the kids run free. Bathrooms available for men and women.Great views of Lake Tillery and some structures of a former Dr. office from the 1800's in the park. Also cabins that can be rented out from the State Park service. Beautiful in the fall but also very pretty thru the year. Pretty sure it is closed in winter as the ride is elevated. Enjoy! We go at least once a year.

So much to do! A beautiful drive into the park, through to the different destinations and all the way to the top of Morrow Mtn. Many trails for hiking, biking and horesback riding are available. Great day hikes with the kids and dogs. Different skill level trails. The trail that follows the lakeshore is great for families. Lots of photo ops and places to sit on a log and have a snack. Canoe rentals, boat launch, kayaking, swimming pool, camping, cabin rental and a museum. Do not forget to visit the historic Kron House- the home, doctor's office and greenhouse still stand on this site. For an added treat- head down the trail behind the home to explore the Kron Family cemetery.

We visited somd friends who were staying in the cabins at Morrow Mountain State Park. It was really nice. Nice trails for hiking and nature. While we were at the cabin, two deer came right up the the cabin and seemed to check everything out. The kids really loved that. I'd definately recommend it.

Love this State Park. The lake area is really fun. The boat launch is easily accessible. The elevation from the top of the mountain to the boat launch is a really good good climb on a bicycle. The top is a favorite destination for motorcycles. But this doesn't mean it is a rough environment. Families are very safe there. Miles of hiking trails for all levels. Also, MILES of Horse Riding trails. Everything is well marked.I have never felt lost there.In summer or warm months watch for rattle snakes. Also, if you are quiet, you will see deer. There is canoe rental offered at the lake picnic area during season.Tent camping is on pads. Cabin rental available. In the summer, the pay pool is open.All in all a great place to visit. Stores near by, so you can pick up food to cook, or dine at restaurants

We love coming here to see the deer, go fishing, walk the trails. We enjoy picknicing and just seeing all there is to see here!

We went camping for a week in C loop. The camp site had a nice pad for our tent also a picnic table and fire pit. The bath house was clean and it had plenty of hot water. We took our kayaks out on the lake and we did a little fishing. It was a fun relaxing trip !

Very nice and refreshing place! We had fun just visiting Morrow Mountain State Park. I enjoyed the serenity at this place. Nice and Safe, Good for fishing or just walking around.

We camped in Area C for 2 nights the second week of November. That was a busy area because it has electrical hookups. There were tents, pull behind pop ups, and RV's. We spent our time hiking on Fall Mountain Trail and Rock Trail. There were some steep and rocky areas, with The Yadkin River at the bottom. We had a wonderful time hiking all over. Those trails were labeled moderate for Falls and easy for Rock Trail but I didn't consider Rock easy in some areas. There was a camp host, checking many times daily on everyone, as well as the usual park staff and Ranger. I felt safe and secure. One staffer said he had not heard of any items going missing from campsites while campers were away from their sites. There had been a storm pass through in June of 2013 which had downed lots of trees, so that was a bit unsightly. But that is Mother Nature. There are a few cabins for rent, a swimming pool for summertime fun, and the rivers and lake for boating and fishing sports. The leaves were just past peak in color but still beautiful. We will definitely be visiting Morrow Mountain State Park again.

We choose Morrow Mountain for our Fall Vacation getaway this year. It is so easy to travel to a warmer destination this time of year, but why not enjoy the Fall Colors right here in our back yard. And so we chose Morrow Mountain State Park for an eight day adventure right here in North Carolina's Uwharrie National Forest.The Morrow Mountain State Park Campground served as the perfect inexpensive place for a "home base" from which we could explore the numerous paddling accesses this splendid area has to offer. We were able to take advantage of four of these sites, but I believe the Falls Boating Access Area was our favorite! (See also Paddling.net web site)For those whose first love may be hiking - you will be in heaven! There are numerous hiking trails that are very well maintained by the diligent NC State Park Staff at Morrow Mountain. There are also riding trails, equally loved and maintained from what we could see, though we did not have the opportunity to use them on this trip.Though most of the campsites are for tent campers, there are some sites with electric hook ups available on "Circle C". We have an ALiner pop up camper built for all terrain use. If you're "sporting" an RV, I recommend you call ahead to check on the grade of the site you are considering before making any online reservation. There are several handicapped campsites available. We found the bath/shower house to be conveniently accessible from all the sites, clean and very well maintained. The Park Staff were very helpful, as was the Camp Host on site.The roads are also well maintained, mind the park wide speed limit of 25 mph. The drive to the top of Morrow Mountain is WELL Worth it! And also handicapped accessible.Have no problem recommending this for a weekend or a week long get away. Mind you though, the weekend camping "warriors" love this park too, so make your reservations early and ENJOY!

Beautiful fall hike in Morrow Mountain State Park. I parked at the visitor's center and I took the Morrow Mountain Trail to where it meets for the first time with Sugarloaf Mountain Trail. I then took SLMT all the way around to where it meets back with with MMT further down and then I took that up the the peak of Morrow Mountain. Views were amazing, I feel like its almost the peak of fall there, next two weeks will be great too. SLMT had a very steep incline in places and kicked my butt a bit in a good way. If you don't think you want that much of a challenge take MMT all the way through and skip the extra hike through SLMT. I ended up getting to the park and then to the top later then I wanted so I actually walked the road back because I didn't want to be in the woods closer to dusk. Keep and eye on the time. As a woman hiking alone I should have carrier mace on me for my own protection I was warned, but nothing happened and everyone I met was very nice along the trail. It was pretty quiet. A weekend with a lot of people I might have been more comfortable.

Morrow Mountain has trails for all types of hikers and horse back trails for riders. Fishing canoeing picnic tables grills cabins camping historic sights and a pool to cool off in the summer.This park is a treasure for all to enjoy the rangers are friendly helpful and full of information. Great for families individuals and events. I have visited this park in all seasons and have enjoyed each visit. There is a reasonable fee for the pool canoes camp sights and cabins.

Nice low key park for hiking and relaxing. Went on several short hikes in the park, had a picnic then visited nearby Stony Mountain Vineyard. Excellent Saturday trip from Charlotte.

First of all, we only camped once and that was at least 40 years ago. My husband was put in charge of finding two nights for us to stay between family visits. He hit the jackpot with a camping cabin in Morrow Mountain State Park.The cabin is larger than I expected and has everything we could need. We brought our sleeping bags and some food and were quite happy. Beds were fine, there are two bedrooms, a bathroom and a small kitchen with a microwave. I had envisioned a campfire. This was much better. The area is quiet and beautiful. We hiked around the area and my special favorite place was sitting on the large screened porch watching the birds and enjoying the colorful fall leaves.So peaceful, rejuvinating and wonderful. Now, I'm kind of sorry I've written this. There are only 6 cabins. Hope you don't take the one I want next year!

We have a group of friends (with kids from ages 10-16 now) that go camping every year in September for the past five years. We have been to Hanging Rock, Bear Den Campground, and Jellystone Park. Overall, this was our favorite place to camp. It was the worst weather we ever had since it rained very hard the first night and was 90 degrees and humid the next day. However, the campsite was very big and gave us room to spread out. We used the group camping. The bathhouse wasn't too far from our site (001), and it was the nicest bath house we've used. The kids loved the woods surrounding the campsite and had fun playing and hiking around there. They found a shallow spot in the lake close by to play some. There is not swimming access, but they did find a spot. We went to Badin Lake which was about 10 min. away and spent several hours swimming there. It was nice but is very rocky and hurts your feet and is slippery without flip flops on. We drove into Albemarle when it rained hard, and there were plenty of places to eat (since we couldn't do a fire in the rain). We saw several deer roaming around and thought Morrow Mt. was one of the prettiest (and least expensive) places we've camped. We really enjoyed it there!

Being a local, I sometime forget about Morrow Mtn. It is a great place to take the family camping or a picnic. The sites are great as is the pool during the summer months!!!
