My wife really LOVED this place! Their specialty seemed to run towards the sweeter wines so if that is your taste you will not be disappointed! They were very busy but still took their time and walked us through all the wines. Very nice building and a nice little tasting area. The ladies working there well wonderful.
Today my husband and I visited Lake James Cellars Winery. I was interested particularly in their sweet wines. We were not disappointed! We enjoyed the tasting, sampling 12 different wines between the two of us. The staff was very friendly; we felt important even with a full set of tasters at the bar. We loved the atmosphere, and will likely return to sample their seasonal wines later this year!
Family run winery. One brother was our tasting guide with the other brother being the winemaker. Nice mix of whites and reds with a variety of fruit wines which my sister really liked.
Joined lots of couples from NJ, SC and NC all looking for a tasting. Dry wines good, but really impressed with sweet wines that displayed crisp summer fruit flavors and so we purchased. We will return.
Enjoyed several of the wines offered. Many of the grapes are brought in to make the wines, but they use mostly N.C. grapes. The Viognier is good, and they offer Traminette, Merlot, Barbera, and many fruity wines such as a cranberry shiraz. The folks are very friendly and nice to talk with. The tasting room is located in an old building that also houses antiques. You can browse while sipping a glass - one of the better wineries in N.C.
Whilst my wife checked out all the neat antiques next door, I sipped on some wine.Very friendly and informative, first time in years I bought a white wine!Well worth the stop and will be back...
I've visited here more than fifteen times during my journeys through North Carolina, and I even bought a wine club member card because of my frequent visits. They have a variety of good red, white and blush wines along with some delicious sweet wines including a green apple riesling and a watermelon white merlot. It's worth a visit to try their extraordinary wines. Be careful of speeding in this whole county because the police are out there in hidden speed traps! This is common knowledge to the locals who live in this community.
My husband and I stopped here on our way to Asheville, NC and we are so glad we did. We weren't sure what to expect from the outside as the winery is in an old textile building. However once you step inside it is so cute and welcoming. (There is also an attached antiques store.)The owner gave us our tasting, she was so nice and we really enjoyed talking with her. There were quite a few wines that we really enjoyed. We ended up buying a case! We would definitely recommend this winery.Go and have a wonderful time!
