The memorial is an overdue tribute to those who served in the "Forgotten War". Beautiful, nicely done. My only criticism, if it is that, is that there's a huge commercial aspect to it that detracts from the composition and message of the memorial. It's paved with a lot of advertisements (from absolutely sincere) individuals and businesses whose donations paid for the constructiion. It's a shame that this couldn't have been paid for by the state. It seems that we live in a time that even honoring our heroes is considered wasteful government spending. Having said that, we in Mint Hill and the state of North Carolina are indebted to those who led the drive and contributed to this moving remembrance.
This Korean War Memorial has been in the works for some time. 99% finished but their are still some things that need to be done . Funds may still be needed to finish.. Visiting here is a blessing. Come on a Saturday visit. The park has Disc Golf, walking trails, soccer, baseball fields etc. Great walking tracks. There is the historic village of Mint Hill close by, great food and dining at Hawthorns' Pizza and Grill and Wendy's and many more local owned establishments. Walking to many local businesses and cycling is easy. Come visit our Memorial Honoring our fallen you will be blessed.
Easily accessible, even for handicapped. Open air, bordered by NC 218, I-485 and a huge park with fabulous walking trails, frisbee-golf course, tennis courts, beach volleyball court, baseball diamond, immaculate playing fields, large playground, tidy bathrooms and fitness stations. Well-lit, symbolic statuary, flags, names and descriptions. A simple, reverent homage to the "forgotten war". The park itself is worth the trip, the memorial is a reflective bonus.
Located in Mint Hill's large outdoor park, the memorial is very very nicely constructed with marble and stone. Worth a walk!
Having had a friend actually fight in Korea the memorial has been on my must do list for my last four visits to Charlotte, like all things American its kept in immaculate condition and looks like it was only created last week! The memorial itself is well worth a visit if you are into Wartime History or recent American History or obviously have a loved one remebered here, as a Brit I can never satisfy my need for history and try to see everything when I travel.Even though the monument is situated alongside a busy road that feeds the Highway, it has an almost eary quietness, well worth a visit if your close but dont drive miles? In comparison to the some of the Worlds memorials its small but equally as poinient and important.
The statue, makes you realize that freedom are not free until its paid. Today everyone is too busy with daily lives that we forgot the one that make the altimit sacrifices for our freedom
Really nice park, the memorial is not finished yet but it looks great so far.
Thanks to everyone who helped make this dream a reality. It is very well done. It is not just in text books, it really happened and this will help us remember that some from NC gave their lives to help stop dictatorial agression. Thanks to Mint Hill for hosting the site.
Memorial to the vets how served in the Korean War. Located next to the Park on Fairview in Mint Hill, NC off Hwy. 218. Lists of names who served from North Carolina. A statue of a Korean Vet. Also a thank you bench from South Korea.
