My husband and I went to Crooked Creek for a 30 minute ride on our weekend getaway. My husband has never been on a horse and was kind of nervous. They did an amazing job making him feel comfortable. The trails were so peaceful and beautiful that my husband declared we MUST go back tomorrow for an hour ride!!!! Can't wait!!!
We stopped for a trail ride in the area. Even though we didn't have a reservation, the stable accommodated us right away. The trails are pretty scenic and the guide was an interesting conversationalist. One drawback--the entire horseback ride was at a walk, when it might have been better if done partly at other gaits.
Family outing consisting of 5 kids ages 5, 8, 12 yr old twins, 16, plus two moms and Grandma. It was a great choice, Everyone there was really great! We rode for an hour through beautiful woods and two streams and our guide Stephanie kept us informed and amused the whole hour. Of course now all 5 kids want a horse! Thanks Crooked Creek for a wonderful memory to share with my Grandkids!
Crooked Creek Trails is a REALLY nice facility with terrific, friendly, knowledgeable staff and healthy, well trained horses! We took our "almost" 8 year old granddaughter trail riding over Independence Day weekend (July 5th) and had a great time riding the one-hour trail. It was our granddaughter's first time riding a trail horse and riding a horse all by herself. The trail guides gave her some very helpful instructions before the ride began--and even helped grandma on and off the horse. :-) It was a fun, relaxing time for us all and our granddaughter loved it! Even Grandpa, who is not that fond of horses, had a good time riding Ebony the mule. LOL! They offer a wide variety of riding options and lessons, in addition to the 1/2 hour and 1 hour trail rides. We will certainly go back again and again!
We visited this secluded gem on a gorgeous summer day. The guides are fantastic, the staff very friendly. Don't worry if you're wearing shorts and sandals... No matter! Horses were solid and stable walking on the beautiful trails, thru vale, woods, and across the creek.Love love love this place! We'll be back to camp and spend the whole weekend next time. The owners so obviously love their land and want others to enjoy it.
Large, beautiful property with lots of trails. They customize the rides to suit your riding ability and time desired. Very amiable and knowledgable staff.
Horses to ride or bring your own, stabling and instruction are avaliable on site, trails are nice and kept. Will be back.
my husband and I came into town to stay for our ann. and did the same thing as we did for our honeymoon, we had been to this place then and had a great time so we came back. It was inculded in the price of our room at Inntiquity Inn in logansport. The owner of Crooked Creek was very nice and it is most def worth going over and taking a horseback ride. was so peacefulif you book then you can do a moonlight ride.
My boyfriend and I stayed in Monticello, Indiana (Indiana Beach area) and decided to visit the Crooked Creek Trails. It's about a 25 minute ride from the Indiana Beach area but definitely worth it.On the weekends, you don't need to make reservations, you just show up. Everyone working there was really friendly and they have close to 200 horses and more land that I've ever seen. Neither of us had been on a horse before but it wasn't a problem. As soon as we got there , they lead us out and helped us on. Just the two of us went out with a guide. There had been a group of 20 or so that had left right before we got there, but we lucked out and got to go in our own small group. The horses are very gentle and follow the leader without you really having to do anything. A few times, you get to wade through a shallow creek which was fun. Although it was hot, the ride is mostly in the shade so it wasn't too bad. There are two different lengths of rides...we did the 45 min- hour one and it was the perfect length. Very scenic, etc.Overall, this was the highlight of our trip!Few side notes:The guides work on tips, so bring along a little extra cash.Print the coupon off their website before you go--we saved $2 a person making it only $18 a ride. Very cheap compared to other riding places I've looked into in other states. If you're planning on doing other touristy things (amusement park, etc)I'd save this for the last day. My muscles were pretty sore the next day and I ended up hobbling around Indiana Beach:-)
