If you're a trail buff you will appreciate the significance of this site along several trail routes, a resting and watering spot used by overland travelers before they set out to cross the prairie and the great unknown. Wear hiking shoes, there are some steps, quite afew up and downhill trails. Not wheelchair accessible. I wish they would include a basic map of the site in their handouts, otherwise you sort of have to walk about and find your way around by yourself. Not paved so it can be muddy. Hilly, some carvings in rocks, some signage. No food for purchase or bathrooms here.

Try to go in March or April so the spring is really running. A really neat stop-amazing to think of the number of people that traveled through this area during our countries great Western migration. Cool to touch rocks that travelers from the past had carved their initials into! Also some neat hiking trails to check out-they are a tad brushy so be prepared for more primitive hiking than other trails in kansas. A great spot and don't forget to check out the emigrant camp and the Big Blue River where the wagoneers crossed. Very cool. It is a primitive stop no restrooms or food available.

Make sure to go after a rain or the spring is dry. We went and it wasn't much like the pictures with the falls flowing but it is nonetheless a neat place...the history.
