This is a popular spot for wine tasting so close to town which might be why this place is the most expensive of the wine tastings we did on our self paced tour of several wineries in the area. At $10 per person for 5 wines we felt it was a little overpriced (but they do allow sharing, but so do most wineries). I would rather not keep the glass, charge me less and let me taste more. But I digress. The host who did our pouring was very knowledgeable and helpful with each wine that we tasted. The wines here were average, although the Merlot was more mild than most we have tried and we purchased a bottle, as well as the strawberry wine. I am not a fan of fruit wines, but this was not what I was expecting and when you add club soda to it, it takes on a whole other flavor. Pairing is key when wine tasting is what we learned. They do offer gold fish crackers to snack on, anything else you pay for. $9 for hummus is a little pricey so we took a pass on that. Overall this is a nice winery with a nice gift shop. Would probably not taste more wine here but would go back to shop if we had more time.
This is the second time we've attended a concert here and I'm torn about what to tell you. It's a small venue, and if you have a good table, you'll be glad you can see an artist you like up close. It's cabaret-style seating and not auditorium style. My first concert was not so good since we were shoved off to the side and could not see the singer very well. Tonight's seat was far better, and it was a great show. (However, I was seated a bit too close to the men's room and found that unpleasant.) Will I attend another show there? Yes. Should you attend a show? Yes, if it's an artist you like, it's certainly worth going there.
Made the drive from JT to New Hope today to beat the greyness of cabin fever and pick up a few bottles of recommended Riesling. This being my first trip to this winery, I decided to taste a few varieties. The friendly gentleman who poured for my friend and I was attentive, a wonderful listener, asking me many questions about what types of wines, grapes, I liked in the past and paired his offerings to my answers excellently. I came home some of their Niagara,a semi-sweet white with a clean, fruity taste and a really lovely bouquet. I can't wait to serve this with a fruit and light cheese plate, or desert. The winery itself is located in a beautiful old red barn adorned with antiques and collectibles. They also offer gourmet food items, wine accessories, and gifts. I will be stopping by again.
I and my partner arrived at the winery on Super Bowl Sunday at around 2:55 PM. As we were photographing ourselves before the winery's red barn the "Open" flag was being removed. But....!The winery's web site and our past experiences there marked that the day's closing to be 5 PM not 3 PM. Several days prior we had reserved a local hotel room, and made dinner reservations in advance of this trip to the winery from North Jersey-- the main purpose of our trip was to re-stock our meager wine cabinet with New Hope Winery's greatest. And they're closing early????? The owner warmly welcomed us. I went straight to the wines forgoing our planned tasting. But despite our apologizing for not knowing of the early closing the owner allowed us a tasting; which became a wonderful 'private' tasting with great conversation & excellent hospitality! (And without our asking; we got to taste a little bit more than is customary). Our cabinet is re-stocked but that doesn't mean we'll wait until bottles are emptied to return to the winery. We love New Hope Winery too much to stay away for too long.
Really enjoyed this winery as practically every wine we tasted was quite good. Service is excellent - very friendly staff and willing to explain details on any of the wines. The dry reds were all great and we couldn't resist buying several of them. The cost is $10/person, which I find a bit high, especially when they don't count that towards a purchase. What do they think this is, Napa or Sonoma? Anyway, the locale is great and I would highly recommend this winery, especially after we visited the total dud Buckingham Winery before this.
Hello Gregory Grookett here to let you know that New Hope Winery is a great place go get some local wine that is fairly priced. They have a great selection and I have been going here for many years. Thanks guys your satisfied customer.
On a recent Saturday we visited during the afternoon for a wine tasting, then returned that night for a Raul Malo concert. Our wine tasting was great...although a little pricey. We had 5 tastes for $10 each. We are from the FingerLakes wine area, which is a hard act to follow...but the Riesling and the Solebury White made with Vidal Blanc Grapes were both really good. We had a wonderful, knowledgeable man doing our tasting. I wish we had gotten his name. He knew a lot about the wines and was really friendly. Riesling wasn't on the menu for the concert that night-but he was able to secure 2 bottles for us to purchase once we arrived at the concert. Thank you...we thoroughly enjoyed it!!The concert itself began with a bit of a bumpy start. We had called a taxi, which proceeded to be very late arriving to get us. We ended up arriving at about 7:40...when we had every intention of arriving before 7. Then...there was a confusion about which tables we were seated at-and they placed us at a table that already had people sitting. Just a rough start...There is food/wine available for purchase. Our plan was to buy food, so we were very lucky to still be able to buy lobster mac and cheese and Pulled Pork Sandwich. The lobster mac and cheese was FABULOUS....who knew it would taste so good in just a cardboard container??Raul Malo was great! He has such a smooth, velvety voice, and the acoustics were wonderful. The venue itself is not as "cute" as I had anticipated-but it worked. It is cabaret type seating, and there were 4 of us at our table. After the concert Raul Malo and his son Dino were gracious enough to stick around to greet their fans and take pictures. Super ending to a rocky start!!We will be back...nice place, and some great concerts!
Intimate setting, cabaret style seating. All great seats, a little tight, sitting at table, but OK as you are so close to artist. We just saw Raul Malo- fantastic show. Very good acoustics. Too many people on I phones- very annoying, however, unfortunately this is typical at many concerts. Some pub style food available, pulled pork, turkey hoagies, and wines by bottle/glass.Highly recommend venue, free parking. Easy to get to, from south, just slightly past Peddler's Village. Check out their web site, a nice mix of some big time music.
Had a great time tasting at this winery last week. The man who served us was very informative about the wines and events that they have in the barn too. Lots of great bands and would love to return to see a show soon! The shop was great to wander around and found some great gifts to go with my wine purchase too! Give it a try, you'll love it too!
Not a bad seat in the venue. Tables of 4,6,8 whatever you need. We purchased a bottle of wine and enjoyed the night of music. Great time. Check out their schedule.
Recently attended a few music shows, check their website. For the shows they offer their wines and limited snacks only. They seem to get good shows. Get tickets early as some sell out fast
On a recent trip to PA we decided to take a quick trip out to New Hope Winery - we had some family members go and decided to try it our for ourselves. It was a pretty ride out there and we went inside and decided to do some tastings. The staff was great, very friendly and knowledgeable on the wines. We had been to many wineries and have had some good and bad experiences. We were greeted right away, given the tasting information and we went to the bar. After trying our wines, we ended up buying 3 bottles on the way out. We had recently done a winery weekend in Long Island, and to be honest, I liked many of the New Hope wines than many we tried in New York. And you get to keep the etched wine glasses which are very pretty! They also (unbeknownst to us) have an entertainment venue with many popular acts. As we were with my elderly mother in law, we did a quick tasting and then headed out for lunch. This would be a perfect place for my husband and I to return for (more!) wine and a show the next time we visit Pennsylvania.
New Hope Winery has a wide selection of wines offered for tasting. I found the staff friendly and informative. The wines very good and the wine pricing competitive for other tastings I've partaken in. Recommended.
this was our second time to the new hope winery. it is a great place to see live entertainment. it only seats 250 or so which means every table is close to the stage. we were stage side for Suzanne vega. great night!!
My hubby and I recently attended our first show at the Winery, Suzanne Vega. It was a great show, and the winery is a wonderful, intimate location to see a concert. The venue is host to a number of acts, including folk artists, tribute bands and up and comers. No seat is a bad seat. Food and wine are available for purchase, but mind your pocketbooks: the winery jacks up the price of its fares to levels that are way to high ($25 for a bottle of merlot; $11 for a cheese tray.) Those prices alone decreased by rating to 4 instead of 5. The winery itself is also fun to visit, and tastings and bottles are more reasonable on a non-concert day.
