We went to see Jimmy Buffet. Our seats were great. A jerk in front of us got sick and the staff were very good about taking care of a messy situation promptly. Bathroom lines get crazy but you can get in.
Been here for a couple concerts and festivals. I love this place, and I wish they would bring more concerts! The staff both for the stadium and giant center always seem friendly and alert to trouble-makers.
Note: this review is about the Winter Classic and a high school soccer game, not a concert. Hersheypark Stadium is not a professional stadium at all. It is a high school stadium. In its defense that is one of its main purposes. From soccer to football to field hockey, to lacrosse, the stadium is the site of state titles for many schools every year. Because of this, it features a small high school style scoreboard and lacks a video board. Despite this, the concourse is wide and has several food stands. The stands are divided into two parts, one on each side of the stadium. For big games the crowd is often divided between the sides, with fan one school on one side and fan from the other school on the other. The AHL winter classic was a great day for Hershey fans, extra seats were added, and a modern scoreboard was added for the event (later removed) Over all don't expect a high tech stadium, expect a high school stadium.
The process for getting in is always in my eyes disorganized and entirely too long. The seats are not comfortable and to me is not ideal for concerts.
Having been to many shows at the Stadium I am impressed with good sight lines from the stands and the sound quality especially on the field. As long as major acts come to town. I will keep going here. Much more intimate than the big city stadiums.
We went to see the Spirit of America -- loved it - enjoyed the area - it was close to Gettysburg and we did a short tour of it while we were there. Definitely going back!
While visiting Hershey Park, we spent some time at the stadium watching a hockey game. While it was cold, we still enjoyed the game.
I saw one concert at this old, storied stadium, and I am done. It is old, antiquated, and some may call it decrepit. I saw Bon Jovi's Opening Night of the "Circle Tour" there. I was NOT impressed at all with this place. You sit on hard cement, with nothing against your back. The bathrooms are, well..............less than stellar. This is NOT a stadium to come to tailgate at, as Management frowns on that in any of the "close" parking lots around the stadium. This place for a concert, is not even on my list anymore. I go home to Gillette Stadium for my outdoor stadium shows, or even to Philadelphia, which has a FABULOUS sports complex to go see a show. I have been to almost 1800 live shows in my day, and this is the worst outdoor concert venue I have ever been to. Not trying to be negative, mind you, just honest. There are other, much better options to go see a show.
We were at the stadium for a Zac Brown Band concert. All was well, until the ushers released the standing crowd to run forward so that they were actually closer to the stage than the reserved seats. Then many in the standing crowd started smoking, some cigarettes, and some weed. We finally had to move our grandkids away from the aisles, the smell was so strong. I complained to security, but they said they couldn't help. Clearly they didn't care, or couldn't handle the situation. We finally had to leave early. Not a good concert situation.
First bands sound guys were terrible. But when Zac Brown came on everything was awesome. Nice stadium, tailgating in parking lot was laidback no problems. Easy out of lot nobody hassles you at anytime. all in all great concert experience!
Jimmy and Alan sure did put on a outstanding show !1 BUT now the parking ,,,never ever again will I get caught up in that mess.....The people working there have no clue where the lots are.and leaving plan on 2 hours in long non moving lines...Hershey should be boycotted by artists...
We saw 2nd concert here this week (Zac Brown), we missed him in Columbia MD earlier this year. 4 years ago when we saw Dave Matthews here, we had a terrible experience getting out of the parking lot, took at least an hour. We heard that the night before for Jimmy Buffett that some people took 2 hours to get out of the lot! And they charge $12 for parking! Jiffy Lube & Merriweather it is included in ticket priceI called security in between acts, they picked up right away and were quite sensitive about it "We are aware there are issues and you have to be patient, we are working on it" What a joke, this has been a long running problem!Well we got lucky - we were at the very back of the lot and drove out the back side and were out on the highway in 5 minutes. But this place is not set up for a mass exit. they need a direct highway ramp onto to highway, not traffic lights, a la DisneyVenue - Jiffy Lube (Manassas VA) and Merriweather (Columbia MD) are much better venues, more comfortable seating (have to twist neck at Hershey when sitting on sides) they have covered pavilion, better concessions and better crowd control...Now the roller coasters, that's a unique attraction. So only come here if your favorite act is here and no where else
Honestly, the only reason this gets an average rating is because of the reasonable parking fee, the sound system and the tram service to and from the venue. We went there at the end of August 2014 for a Jimmy Buffett concert. This is nothing more than an old worn out football stadium not even worthy of a high school team. "Seats" are sold according to a section number and seat numbers. Nothing could be more misleading. They should sell them as bleacher section and spot number for your seat. Old wooden benches and very crowded. On the plus side the sound system is very good. Thankfully. Eats and drinks, souvenirs, etc provide the usual overpriced experience but not as bad as some of your larger venues.
While grateful to live close to a place that draws top rated shows, and some of my best concert memories are here, it has some down sides. Sometimes the acoustics are great, sometimes poor. Parking is fair to problematic. They need to send people to direct exiting. It can be busy before, especially when the park is busy.Great neue for sporting events. PA HS championships arw well done. Local HS football is fine, events are fun but stadium really too big.Staff has always been helpful. Good facilities. Food OK.Crowds have been great in my experience. We've been to easily over 50 events here. Down sides should not keep you away.
