Nice beach but way too crowded. Look around. There are other beaches nearby with far fewer visitors. Saugatuck state park is a good example.

Oval Beach is a clean wonderful beach surrounded by beautiful and expansive sand dunes, all of which are a sheer joy to explore. It is a jewel among jewels in the Saugatuck area.

I got some great pictures of the lake and the harbor. Very pretty in the winter. It would be a great place to visit in the summer.

If you are looking for a beautiful natural shoreline with Sandy beaches and Sweetwater in the summertime and beautiful Mounded ice mountains in the winter, Come to oval Beach in Saugatuck Michigan. It is been a favorite resort area for over 120 years. The town has many art galleries and eateries. It's a beautiful place as a destination or 4 brief stopover. The shoreline, waves, and sky produce a new tableau everyday.

This IS a beautiful place in all seasons. Douglas n Saugatuck are nice towns with options in art, food, history and nice locals.

This is a truely gorgeous section of the earth that hasn't been overly tainted by human involvement in the ecosystem. With beautiful san and cool clear water its must for families with kids or teens.

While we have made multiple trips to Oval in spring, summer, and fall, this is our first winter trip. Surprised to find the road to the beach plowed and clear. Parking lots also well taken care of. The display of ice was fascinating. Mounds of well rounded sand impregnated ice balls were everywhere. There were flat areas that were like cobble stone streets. I do not know if this is an every winter sort of thing, but it was a sight to behold.

Admission is $6 last time I checked. But other than a refreshment stand, and a paved parking lot, there's NO development.Yes, there are park benches and some grills, but other than that, nothing. The vista overlooking the beach is as native as when the glaciers receded. Very serene. Calm. If you appreciate solitude, this is the place.

Oval is a beautiful beach. Clean and close to parking. Restrooms/concessions are nearby as well. Best bet- pack a cooler, grab chairs & towels and hang out all day. Perfect summer day.

The most beautiful beach in the United States. The parks and town of Saugatuck and Douglas will keep you coming back for more.There is so much to do and see in the area.

rainier day but still beautiful and tranquil setting. walked along the beach and listened to the water and just relaxed after busy wedding weekend.

We were in the area in late October and there was no crowds around at this time. Very nice road leading to the beach area. We walked along the beach and took some pictures. It would of been very nice during the summer months.

This is a great beach in the Midwest. There is only one one lane road to get in and out - caused lots of traffic on Labor day. I think people were waiting almost a half our in their cars. The town here is very strict about alcohol on the beach. We saw a well behaved group of 10 guys get kicked out after having to empty all the alcohol and coolers. Two girls who are beach observers (life guards?) came up to them and pretended to flirt with them and then radioed over to the local police officer who arrived (armed) in a sand buggy in a matter of minutes to kick them out. Crazy!

Lovely walk on the beach. Temperature was in the low 50's, windy and refreshing! My husband and I were celebrating our wedding anniversary and one of my favorite things to do is take a walk on the beach. It was beautiful!

There are two large beaches on Lake Michigan in this area. Oval Beach and Saugatuck Dunes State Park. We went to both (see separate review for the State Park). As far as Lake Michigan beaches go, both of these are much more narrow than those at Ludington, Holland, etc. Oval Beach is easily accessible by car and the beach is narrow so you're not lugging coolers, chairs, toys, etc across seemingly miles of hot sand. There are restrooms and running water. The beach is a bit pebbly but very nice to walk along. If you are here in the summer, I'd recommend remembering your water shoes if you plan to go in the water.
