I have been consistently impressed with the musicianship of the orchestra here in Grand Rapids. The new Pops series is a winner!
The Grand Rapids Symphony is a great orchestra with a very good music program. The venue is new, very attractive with great acoustics.
In spite of Grand Rapids being a small city the GR Symphony is top notch. We are season ticket holders for the "Pops" and consider the cost of seasons tickets to be money well spent.
We attended our 2nd Holiday Pops concert this year and originally did two years ago. Comparing the two, the first time was more lively and fun, however they can't do the same concert every year so I understand that they have to mix it up.I would go for the $18 seats on level three in the middle. The view is just fine and I think you can see more. There is a service fee too...so $18 becomes $25. It is a nice outing for couple, seniors and families.
The Grand Rapids Symphony was great. We were in town for Art Prize, from Texas, and decided to try the symphony. While we may have been younger than most in the audience, it was a good time. The musicians were great. The ticket price was great as well. If you like culture, and/or want to try a symphony, I would recommend it.
Everything about the GR Symphony was perfect: Top-notch artist, excellent equipment, a genius maestro combined with a wide selections of musical arts. "Sound of the Eagles" was simply splendid!
The GR symphony is VERY good! I mean SUPREMELY good. I don't consider myself an aficianado, but I've heard other symphonies in major cities and our own compares, IMHO, really well. Every time I take in a performance, I leave awed by the talent we are blessed to have in our own backyard. Thank you GR Symphony for enriching our city!!!!
Cannonsburg Ski are is transformed to a wonderful summer venue for listening to some great sounds from the Grand Rapids Symphony. We went with friends to listen to the sounds of the Eagles and they certainly didn't disappoint anyone! A great place to pack in some wine and cheese and enjoy a great Michigan summer evening!
to describe the quality that is the Symphony. Each performance brings the audience to its feet. A wide variety of gifted guests mesmerize and inspire. Under the genius of Maestro David Lockington, the long together musicians have created flawless performances. Unforgettable evenings await.Lynn
The GR Symphony plays at Cannonsburg Ski Lodge Thursdays and Fridays in July. Every week the music varies. Usually one week is traditional symphony music. Last night I listened to Beatles music played by the symphony (cover band included!!) Guests can either buy a ticket there at the door or in advance. The ski lodge allows you to bring in food (picnic) or you can buy something there (I never have) , and beverages-alcohol is ok!. Guests bring in their own lawn chairs or blankets and sit on the ski hill to listen to the concert on a beautiful summer night in Michigan. Music starts around 7:30, but gates open at 5:30. I have noticed there is a significant number of 'mature adults' in attendance. Volunteers provide a ride on a golf cart to and from the parking lot to those who need the assistance. Advance tickets are only $13-15 if you choose to sit on the lawn. There is 'preferred seating' on tables and chairs provided by the ski lodge for quite a bit more. Last night was a huge turn out, several thousand I would guess. Fun night, great music, safe out door atmosphere.
The Grand Rap[ids Symphony has been described as the best regional symphonies in the United States. The orchestra presents a major classical series, a major pops series and several programs designed to be accessible in a variety of venues.
The Grand Rapids Symphony provides a consistently superior experience across multiple genre of musical arts. The performance space seems to have no poor seating in acoustical terms. The acoustics provide an appropriate environment to support nuanced performances by soloists, ensembles, and the entire orchestra in many different stagings. I personally think it his a fantastic value, and so I have gone repeatedly.
The Grand Rapids Symphony is excellent. When we travel we try and make a point to visit the symphony of the town we are in. Since we live in Grand Rapids we get to experience our home symphony and they are amazing.
We find the Grand Rapids Symphony one of the best and most versatile symphonies in our experience. Excellent quality concerts with outstanding guest artists are standard. Then you have the Christmas Specials for families with great music and light-hearted fun, complete with "Santa" showing up to direct the orchestra. Outside pops concerts in the summer - our favorite is the patriotic one close to July 4. These are but a few of the options to invite the tastes of all who value and enjoy high quality musical performances.
The Grand Rapids Symphony always does a SUPER job with their New Year's Eve Concerts! We have attended these for several years now and always look forward to something excellent and fun! This year was just as good and as special as previous years and we look forward to what creative things they will come up with in the future.
