The man that opened this Foundation is Claude Johnson. He is Robert Johnson's son. Some years ago the Kitchens Law firm proved during trial that Claude was the legal heir to his fathers rights from various songs....such as Crossroads. This location does not keep regular hours for touring. It is the center of the philanthropic work that Claude and his children set up. It's really cool inside. It's a must see. Unfortunately since the Foundation was established there have been events in the historic district (where the Foundation is located) that have left the area in poor condition. There was a massive block fire on Backstreet that destroyed 7 businesses along with storm related structural collapses. The area is going through a period of gentrification. If you arrive here and want inside....just ask around. Best time to arrive.....during the tomato festival. Google Crystal Springs Tomato Festival
All along the Mississippi Delta, there are places for Robert Johnson whether it be places his visited, crossroads, or the numerous burial spots for him. This museum tended to have more of his memorabilia than the others. It is still not a vast collection, but what do you expect on a museum about a man who died at 27 and only recorded about 20 songs?
