This is a no frills type playhouse. A true mountain retreat however just a little too rustic. We went to hear a swing band which was very good. Too bad there isn`t really a dance floor, who could sit still when Glenn Millers “In The Mood”, is being blasted from the horn section. The main pavilion is a rustic knotty pine area with church pew seating. Sadly a 2X4 plywood dance floor outside the pavilion is all you had to work with. There were no outside speakers so after the doors shut you could not really hear the music as well as inside. Then the plywood floor was so warped all you heard was the clomping of everyone’s shoes. It was really comical.Perhaps if it was some classical string quartet and you didn`t dance it would have been fine. All in all clomping and all we had a fun night. Always Chefnfly

Chamber music concert by the Amernet Strong Quartet - Peter and the Wolf, selection from Cypresses by Dvorak, and his Quintet for Double Bass and Strings -- what can I say! This summer music program has been going strong for 84 years so you know that they are doing something right! The seating is first-come, first served -- sit in padded 'church pew' type benches. The walls of the hall are real knotty pine and the warmth of the wood must make the acoustics perfect -- the sound was lush, exquisite, amazing. Park on the lawn, short walk to the hall, air conditioned if needed. We went to a 5 pm "Russian" dinner at the Inn at Falls Village and then this 6:30 sunset concert. If you are in the area during their season, do not miss the experience. musicmountain.org

For the first time I went to Music Mountain. It is about 1-1/2 hours from Hartford, my home, high in the Litchfield Mountains. It is a beautiful setting with a concert hall famous for its acoustics, build with the physics of sound like a violin (there is an explanation posted there for you to read). We saw/heard the Amernet string quartet. Reminded me of the stories and scenes in movies showing 1800 intimate chamber music in homes. It was $35 at the door ($30 in advance). A used book sale to wander through before the concert. Informal dress, wooden pew-like seats (with cushions). The woman who brought me and was very familiar with it also brought "seat" cushions for our backs--a great idea. It was just wonderful, warm, and wonderful. If I can find my own way there, I'll be going again.
