Robert and Franchesca are wonderful hosts. Very quaint winery off the beaten track. Franchesca makes home mad personal pizzas in a brick oven on site while you can enjoy some great wine while you wait. Well worth your time if you want to spend an hour is so on Saturday afternoon on the Eastern Shore of Virfinia

We visit Chincoteague frequently and were looking for something to do a little different then what we usually do so we decided to do a little wine tasting. We arrived at the winery and were greeted by the two resident dogs that are very friendly but pretty much keep to themselves. (sleep under trees actually). The owner was doing the tasting and although he was a bit reserved at first turned out to be very accommodating, helpful and friendly. We tasted all of the wines, there is a tasting fee of 0.50 per taste but we had no problem with that at all. We are used to paying tasting fees. The wines were all very drinkable. My favorite is the Cabernet Franc. The atmosphere was very inviting and relaxing. The authentic Italian pizza was delicious. They also offer artisan breads, cheeses, olives brie and possibly more. When I come back again and I will be back again, I am going to try the bread and cheese as there were many patrons there that seemed to really enjoy that as well. It seems to be a hangout for the locals. Everyone we encountered was very friendly. I really like the place and am glad we took the time to find it.

I don't know how to please some people. This place, which we've been meaning to visit for years and finally did with some friends, is quaint and charming. The wine is very drinkable, the pizza was delicious (if you're looking for large pies with all sorts of toppings, this is not the place) and the atmosphere was almost Zen-like. It was a pleasant afternoon, the sun was shining and the world was good. So, why do people complain? It can't be the prices - $0.50 for a taste, $4 for a glass, $8 for a small pizza that's easily shared by 2. It's not gourmet, it's not Napa, but it's a perfect little escape for a couple of hours.

Visited there on a Saturday evening. Waited in line for a tasting while the guy behind the bar/cash register visited and waited on those all around us, seemingly because he knew them. Finally he gave me a taste of the mediocre Merlot--there were only a few drops left in the bottle, so that is what I got--just a few drops, not even a whole swallow. Only one pizza on the menu. He acted like we were a pain in the butt, so we left--stopped at Food Lion and bought a frozen pizza, Enjoyed it at home with a lovely bottle of Church Creek Chardonnay, and had no one scowling at us.

Stopped by this winery on our way from Cape Charles to Chincoteague Island. I'm so glad we made a stop here. The place is owned by a very nice gentleman who runs the entire place himself with the help of his wife and 12-year-old daughter. Tastings are 50 cents each, and they have great pizza that they cook on property in a pizza oven outside on their patio. One whiff of the pizza and you'll have to get yourself one... and you won't be sorry!! The Red Kiss was my favorite wine, but all were average. Cute dogs roam the property, as well.

Our innkeeper recommended a visit to this winery and so we arrived right at noon on a Saturday. We ordered one margarita pizza $8.50 (baked in their famous outdoor oven) to share (the pizza about the size of a paper plate) along with a $4.00 glass of wine each. Later we sampled 2 other wines @ 50 cents ea. and ended up buying not only wines but also some delicious freshly baked ciabatta bread $2ea to go. There are resident dogs to greet you and then return to napping. Dogs are not allowed in the tasting room w/indoor seating but are permitted on the adjacent covered terrace w/ample picnic table seating near the outdoor oven. There is an extensive mowed field for dog walking/playing and also a bench for resting just off the terrace. Try the Red Kiss for something different. Bottle makes a nice gift. Wines were in the $14 range. Everyone working hard to serve.Understand that a reservation may be advisable in the evenings for pizza.

Bloxom Winery is a real jewel on the peninsula. We tasted there Chardanay, Merlot and Cabernet Franco. The Chardanay was fermented without oak which gives it a much more fruity taste and more important,y wife loved it. The Merlot was very good also but was edgeded out by the full bodied Cab. We bought both the cab and Chardanay. We then had two classes of the Cabernet Franco with a pizza on the veranda with the two dogs. It really was delightful and I only wish we lived around here to make this a routine. If you like good wine, friendly people and dogs (you don't have to like the dogs but I bet you will) you must put Bloxom Winery on your itinerary.

Wine and pizza was very good, had to have some of both. Great place to stop off for some refreshments and dog petting (dogs very friendly). The place is not easy to find, no signs along the way, not that we saw anyway. You have to put it in your GPS.

We took a little day trip to this winery while staying in Chincoteague Island. it was about 25 minutes south of the Island. The winery was very cute and was well set next to the vines. The place was small but had plenty of seating both inside and outside. Outside it had a covered terrace with seats and a wood fire stove. The stove was for their wood fired pizza served only on Saturday. And as luck would have it, it was Saturday when we visited and the pizza was pretty good. Definitely good enough to be paired with a bottle of their Merlot. The owner and his daughter were there and were very pleasant. It was a very nice excursion and sitting there under the terrace with a glass of wine and a nice slice was a good way to spend an afternoon. I would say that the wine was nothing special but the owners good mood, pizza and nice cozy feel of the place made up for that. I would recommend this as an escape if you are on the Island or passing by.

We had a lovely afternoon at Bloxom Winery. We enjoyed the tasting, but especially enjoyed a bottle of chardonnay on the patio with pizzas, and visiting with the dogs. (Our dog was welcome there, too - a big plus!) The view of the vineyard and flowers all around the patio were just gorgeous. The owners were friendly and accommodating. We will be back.

What real treat to visit this winery! This place beats some of the older establishments I have visited in the interior of Virginia. The vineyard is very well maintained. The wine tasting area and cafe are very nicely appointed (immaculate restroom), nice patio area, friendly staff, excellent cabernet franc and blush, merlot, and the pizza is FANTASTIC ---- hot, fresh, and delicious from the wood-fired brick oven on the patio. Can't wait to go back!

This is the third winery my family has visited on the Eastern Shore and by far its setting was the best. There was a lovely covered area with tables outside and indoor seating as well. We called ahead to see if we could have a picnic there prior to tasting the wines and were given permission by the owners; therefore, the covered area was perfect for our family picnic. We also observed others who also came and brought their own food and purchased glasses of wine to enjoy with their meals as well. I'm not a fan of animals so I was glad that the two dogs on the property minded their own business. After lunch the adults in my party participated in a wine tasting (50 cents per tasting). Of the three wineries on the Eastern Shore, Bloxom's wine was by far the worst. It wasn't helped by the gruff demeanor of the winery owner.Overall, I'd say you could skip this one.

Very nice small winery. Don't have a large selection of wines, but what we tried were good. Only 50 cents for each tasting. Thought that was reasonable. Cook pizzas in a wood fired oven on weekends. Will be back.

My family visited this winery during our recent family reunion. The owner said it was ok for us to picnic there before the tasting. The outside area was covered with plenty of tables and space. One couple was also there with food. Two dogs were wondering around, but didn't bother us. Just seemed to check us out then laid down. Afterwards we went inside for the tasting. We tasted 5 wines, most of which were dry. The wines were ok but owner wasn't very open or informative, like other 2 wineries on Eastern Shore we had visited. Cost of tasting was 50 cents per wine per person. I would definitely recommend other wineries (Holly Grove and Chatham) over this one if you only go to one.

The wine was excellent but the winery is like being in Italy. Some nice wine selections and the owner was friendly and informative. They have an outdoor pizza oven on the weekends so worth a trip
