We tubed two days in a row. The first day was more fun, but through no fault of The Homestead. Yesterday we got to hook tubes together, ride together, just be silly. Conditions got a little icy today so we weren't allowed to do silly things. Unlike another reviewer, we were very happy to have to make reservations. It guaranteed that we were never stuck waiting. They limit tubers to 20-30 people, depending on how busy they are. We had no difficulty navigating the TINY slopes to the tubing area, but I could understand how it would be difficult for anyone with physical limitations. That said, the path was not cleared of snow from the lodge to the tubing area, nor was it clearly marked. All in all, a great time was had by all.

It was a long difficult walk to tube in the snow. The walkway was not shoveled. The staff were very friendly, it was lots of fun. There were only 2 tubing lanes. The staff let you tie yourself to other peoples tubes.

The experience was wonderful if you could climb the approximately 90 degree vertical snow bank to get to the tubes. The next problem was getting from the tubing stop down to the next level to tube again. This usually involved sliding down on one's backside. My husband was able to enjoy the experience; I, however, wasted my $15 because I was unable to climb the snow bank. Easier access to the tubing experience is definitely a must; otherwise, it is only for the hail and hardy. I won't waste my money there again without some modifications.

My husband and I drove an hour and a half from Roanoke to go snow tubing today. The website listed it as one of the winter activities available at Homestead. When we arrived, the concierge told us there were no more spots available for the day and she couldn't help us further. Nowhere on the website does it say that their snow tubing sells out. We've been to both Bryce and Wintergreen in the past 2 years and they take as many snow tubers as are there at the time. Additionally, there are no links on their website to pre-book for snow tubing--the only online tickets are for skiing. What a true disappointment.
