Have been here many times and always beautiful. Spring is the nicest because the azaleas are in full bloom. But any season is nice. Very unique rose garden, many path to walk, rest and be with your thoughts, nature sounds and smells. Highly recommend.
We had the pleasure of visiting this lovely location when our connecting flight was delayed. It was late Spring with the azaleas and rhododendrons in full bloom. Lots of birds and butterflies along the walking path. Beautiful and peaceful despite being at the airport. It was a nice, unexpected distraction. Lovely.
Our daughter was Married in the Butterfly Garden at Norfolk Botanical Gardens, and it was absolutely lovely. The Gardens are a very beautiful, bright spot in the City of Norfolk. And worth every penny to visit. When the Rose garden is in bloom, between the color and the scent that permeates the air? WoW is all I can say! Visit if you are in Norfolk in Spring/Summer/Fall. You will love it!
We had so much fun,was great for adults as well as the kids! Beautiful! We all enjoyed! My daughter bought the membership,so her family will be visiting again.
Lovely place to walk... water park area for kids for really warm days.... interesting facts along the way
This Botanical has historical significance built in the 30's. Boat rides in the summer, butterfly gardens, Halloween events, Garden of Lights, kids area...the garden has a little bit for everyone. The rose garden is spectacular, and in the a couple a days a week during certain hours you can actually ride your bike and enjoy all areas.
It may not be Longwood Gardens in Pennsylvania, but it's sure worth a visit. For a onetime visit, take the tram. You'll never see it all on foot. In summer, the screened in butterfly garden is a real treat. There's a nice play area for kids to burn off a little steam, too. At times the airport makes some noise, but the berms do a rather effective job of screening most of it. I think it's one of the better botanical gardens in the country. My daughter likes it so much she buys a yearly pass, and we regularly go with her for an outing at the Gardens.
Something for everyone here and something interesting in any/all seasons. It's also not too expensive. I don't garden myself but love to walk around here.
Can't go wrong with 155 beautifully landscaped acres. Don't miss the butterfly house in season! And in the winter, the Tropical House is amazing!
We stumbled across the light show while getting lost trying to get to the airport and were completely blown away. As a botanical garden and as a light show this place knows how to impress. If you enjoy the outdoors in anyway I would make sure you come visit this place.
This is a Botanical garden that was built during the 30's under FDR's administration. long pathways, pretty azaleas, train rides that are available describing all the garden features as well as boat rides in the summer. During the holiday season, they have holiday lights up and you can pay an admission to drive through at night.
Great destination. So much to see any time of year. Summer days in the wildflower garden, fall afternoons in the Enchanted Forest, winter nights with the holiday light display...it's always a great time. If you're local, buy a membership and come every season!
Wonderful gardens to see natures beauty on foot or being driven. It's great any time of year, but best in the late spring. Only negative is the close proximity to the airport and the jet noise although some find it interesting to view the planes taking off and landing. We highly recommend it.
Lots of privacy and flowers and sunny skies or those gothic gray ones but who cares because you are in Virginia Beach and except for the greasy cruisers in the thick of summer, this place is awesome and reasonably priced for good times. The flowers and trees and paths here are sewn together by mother nature and Jah and it is peaceful when you need seclusion but there are those nooks and crannies for quick and slow kisses. All you have to do is then decide do you want to go to Norfolk or the beach (also called the shore if you are from the Garden State).
I am a horticulturist and travel for work often. I stopped by this garden to kill time before a flight and found it to be one the most enjoyable afternoons I have spent "killing time". The staff here is outstanding and the gardens are worth taking much more time to peruse than I had. I hope to have an excuse to go back soon.
