I have visited this cemetery many times. Christmas is a must when the graves are decorated with wreaths. I was lucky enough to go after a snow and it was breathtaking with the white ground, white lined tombstones and the green wreaths and red bows. I have also attended funerals here. Very impressive.
We placed flags on the graves of deceased soldiers of all past and current wars. A very humbling experience.
My grandfather was a WWII and Korean war veteran. I met the officers before the ceremony, they were very kind and offered their condolences to my family. The service was incredible and moving, and had us in tears. I have been back since then to visit his grave. The cemetery is kept looking perfect.
I have been to Quantico National Cemetery on several occasions. It is very quiet and respectful. We as a family go out in early December to help with Wreaths Across America project. I think it is important to take my nephews and grandchildren here to teach our children about the freedoms we enjoy each day , and the great cost at which they were given to them.It is so wonderful and humbling to see all the tombstones decorated with Christmas Wreaths, especially knowing you helped. National Wreaths Across America Day Saturday December 14, 2013 - See more at: http://www.wreathsacrossamerica.orgAlso visit during a Missing in America Project ceremony, oo provide honor and respect to those who have served this country by securing a final resting place for these forgotten heroes. They investigate and locate American Veterans who died in the USA, who are found in urns in Funeral homes all across the USA. http://www.miap.us/God Bless all American Veterans!
I enjoy visiting cemeteries while traveling. This one is well maintained, respectful and peaceful. I regret not stopping by the office to find out more information on the history of the cemetery.
It is a cemetery so I would necessarily say it is fun to visit, but I fully expect to be buried in the cemetery hopefully way in the future. The cemetery is well kept and has easy access. I would say the view is nice, but then again the view from a cemetery is not really a necessity.
My Dad is buried here so I visit pretty frequently. On certain holidays it is decked out with hundreds of flags - quite a site to see. The maintenance staff is excellent - a fine tribute to those who served their country.
The grounds are well kept. The area is very quiet and respectful as it should be. One gets a feeling of both pride and loss as you view the markers. Semper Fi.
