The people were wonderful, the atmosphere cozy, and the wine was delicious! We visited Rappahannock on a snowy afternoon and got wonderful service with our tasting with Sheri! What a delightful place. I love that there are so many wineries around Virginia but very few have any reds that I really love - but Rappahannock really should be every local red drinker's go to vineyard. I would definitely recommend it! Cheers!
We went here at a friend's suggestion and are thrilled we did. There was a large crowd but they do a good job of spacing people around the winery so it doesn't feel overcrowded. And we received great personal attention from the gal facilitating our tasting. Having spent time in Northern CA, I've was spoiled with great wines and was having a hard time finding high quality wineries. Rappahannock is one of two wineries in the state that I've been too and am excited about the wines. Highly recommend coming here!
We enjoyed the wine tasting. Our hostess was so much fun! It is a beautiful setup. Although we were there on a cold day in November, I can only image how gorgeous it would be in the spring or fall!
Really enjoyed our brief visit to Rappahanock Cellars and staff were most pleasant and understanding of desire to bring home a nice wine from the region...thanks
Wonderful selection of estate grown wines the consistency of which will surprise you. Attentive cellar staff who know what they're doing make the trip very enjoyable.
Have enjoyed their wines in the past and was able to visit once again on a recent weekend. We were impressed with the additions to their facilities and look forward to going back.
We've visited a number of wineries in this general area since we moved here last year. This was one of the better tasting experiences. A nice atmosphere, pleasant staff - they were attentive but didn't rush us. They have a very pleasant "club room" for the use of wine club members, and the wine club seemed to be a very good value. If you are thinking of joining a wine club in this area, you should definitely pay them a visit and check them out.
I organized a private group tasting at this family-owned winery for 15 people and it went off without a hitch. I sent several emails in advance and always received a prompt reply. We were able to bring our own food, which we enjoyed at a table in the beautiful tasting room before our tasting began. We sampled six wines (2 whites, 1 rose, 3 reds) and a port. Our tour guides/wine pourers, Andrew and Joe, were friendly, knowledgeable, and very accommodating. They really took their time to explain things to us and answer questions. We enjoyed seeing the production room and crush pad. I have found some hosts at wine tastings are not very familiar with the production process, so it was great to learn about that side of things. I definitely recommend this winery for a large private group tour and tasting.
We really enjoyed trying some of the specialties and hanging with the team at Rappahannock (especially the NJ natives!). While we arrived just ten minutes before closing time, they were very accommodating and fit us in for a slightly smaller tasting menu, but let us relax and take our time nonetheless. The barn area is beautiful and super spacious, yet cozy at the same time. Looking forward to future visits!
One of our favorite wineries in Va. We 1st visited in 2012 on our way to see DMB in Charlottesville. Loved the wines and atmosphere. Stopped in again in 2013. Once again great wines. Joined the wine club that time. We do live in Pa but they would hold our wine until pick up was the clincher. That and the 50% off cases. We enjoy visiting Va wineries. The reds are outstanding. It makes a great weekend trip to visit the area. Plenty of restaurants and history. Going back in November with friends. Want them to taste what we found.
The most important part of any winery is the wine, and the wines here are very good. They make very good whites as well as reds. They are probably best known for the great Viogner and their Meritage wines. They also make two excellent desert style wines. One is very similar to a Port, and the other, called Solera, is very different wine. It has a caramel nutty flavor. It is made very differently than most wines. It is made in large clear vessels and placed on the roof. The facility is very nice with a warm feel to it. The staff is very friendly and several of the family work there. Definitely worth a stop if you are anywhere nearby.
Amazing scenery and wonderful wine! I enjoy this winery so much a finally joined their club and took a case home with me.
We stopped by Rappahannock for a tasting. The wines were a good 10 dollars a bottle more than they should have been given the quality. The unoaked Chardonnay was almost unusually sweet. The winery itself is beautiful and some of the local wines are nice, but again a bit pricey especially in comparison to comparable wines in the area. We enjoyed the cheese plate. Our guide appeared tired and withdrawn.
The wines are delicious, the staff is always friendly and helpful. It is so nice to pack up the family and a picnic lunch and enjoy the beautiful surroundings at Rappahannock!
We enjoyed touring the new facility and, of course, the wine. The family is such a delight and it over flows to the staff. It is, by far, our favorite winery
