I love the family atmosphere and the comraderie that you feel as you walk into the stadium. It is a great stadium and the management works hard put on a great evening or afternoon of fun for everyone.
Very good facility and good single A baseball. The concessions and seating are very good. Overall, a great value for families.
I went to a Salem Red Sox game in July, on a perfect summer night to see a game.Although I am from New England and a Boston Red Sox fan, I hate to say it, but I'd never heard of the Salem Sox. I travel to this area every summer and have never noticed even a sign on the highway nor any advertisements anywhere to see a game here. I found out about it only after a random online search of available summer activities and attractions when planning my trip south this past summer.I'm glad I finally found out about it!The ballpark is very nice and clean. The workers are pleasant. The activities for fan interaction between plays are fun to watch. There is a team store, and although some of the items are pricey, they do have some cool tshirts, caps and other memorabilia for purchase. I bought a cap for my nephew that was for sale from a vendor at a table inside the stadium instead, though.Next door to the store is "Little Fenway," a small field with replica Green Monster where kids (and adults?!) can run around for fun and dream big league dreams.I enjoyed walking around the stadium and taking on the sights. The Salem Fair was in town while I was here. Although I didn't attend the fair, it was right next door to the stadium. There is no charge for parking, and there is plenty of space to park in the lot out front. There is no reason to pay more to get tickets to a game in advance. Unfortunately, the problem is that there are too many empty seats.I look forward to making a game every summer I can while in the area. It was a great time, and I would recommend to all baseball fans.Beautiful scenery behind the field, too. Can't beat it!
I grew up going to Salem Pirates games at the old stadium when my Dad would bring me down from Christiansburg several times each summer. The Salem Red Sox provide that same kind of experience for a new generation. It is a beautiful ballpark. I've been in a lot of major and minor league ballparks, but Salem's ranks with the best for an all-around experience. The backdrop is beautiful. The seats are roomy and the general admission sections make a great place to kick back and relax. There is plenty of activity to keep even the marginal fan entertained. A family night out. A date. A youth group or other group outing. The Salem Red Sox provide an affordable and fun outlet for a fun-filled night. You can even take your pooch for their Sunday "Bark in the Park" days.
Our family traveled to Salem for the first half of our Memorial Day weekend. While delays in our three-and-a-half hour car trip to Salem meant that we did not arrive until the bottom of the first inning, the front of the house at the stadium was still bustling and inviting. We made sure to visit the very nice team store down the left field line first. They had a great selection of products, and even an infant hat for our 10-month-old (not as easy to find as you might think),The on-field staff was very typical for minor league baseball. They made the atmosphere fun and exciting, beyond just getting to see some good baseball. The concessionaires have a good selection of ballpark food, and a great beer selection of regional craft brews. The thing that cannot be topped is the location of the stadium. They did a great job of utilizing the idyllic surrounds, giving spectators an amazing view of the Blue Ridge Mountains. They also take their ties to Red Sox Nation seriously, which adds to the character and fun (we are not Sox fans, but appreciate fandom). Be sure to stop by the aforementioned team store for a First Game/Welcome to Red Sox Nation button (My daughter proudly wore hers all evening).All-in-all, this is a great place to spend a summer evening, whether you are a baseball fan or not.
I was in town for a convention and decided to attempt to catch a game. I am from the Cleveland, Ohio area and frequently attend Cleveland Indians games and have also been to the A-Class Lake County Captains, AA Akron Aeros, as well as the AAA Columbus Clippers parks within the last couple of years in addition to many other ballparks around the U.S.While my home town ball parks are fairly new I was very impressed with Lewis-Gale Field. The seating is above average and the prices are fantastic, the staff were all very nice and very eager to help with anything. While I came alone the park has many options for families beyond watching the game. The free parking and the nice flow of traffic out of the stadium was an exclamation point on my experience at the park. Even though I'm a Cleveland Indians fan it was a good time at a Red Sox affiliate game.
Our farm club for the Red Sox seems to be well-supported by the whole Roanoke Valley and has a very pleasant ball park to spend an evening with the family on a warm summer night...
My husband and I were visiting the area and went to a ballgame, it was awesome! It is free parking, great stadium with cheap seat prices, all of which had a good view. We were sitting right behind home plate and it was PERFECT! The draft beer is $1, unbelievable. We got a chicken sandwich for $8. The stadium is clean and easy to walk around. I got a game ball, THANKS to one of the players. There are several little stores if you want to get hats or shirts. It was a GREAT night!
It's a great way to spend an evening when on business by yourself away from home. Minor league ball is great, and you meet some interesting folks as well.
