stoney creek golf course at wintergreen resort

Nice practice facility, with lots of targets. Practice green is big and definitely not flat. Beautiful courses with elevation changes. Challenging enough for a high handicapper, without being so discouraging. Go play!

See my review of their private sister course at the top of the mountain also. We were a group of 10 with 2 non golfers so perfect for two foursomes. The course has three nines all of which are fabulous. Try to play Tuckahoe their newest and most scenic. But all three are in great shape. While at the bottom visit one of the many wineries in the area. They are close and a nice finishing touch to a great morning. The course was in great shape and all staff see most helpful. A great weekend golf outing only about two hours from Richmond

Enjoyed this course - wider expanse of fairways. We had a meal one evening and this was truly brilliant. Also a group were playing music/singing, which made this really a place to be. Staff were excellent - made you feel really welcome.

The staff was very friendly. The course is surrounded by the mountains, and was in great condition. But...the course plays much too long from the forward tees for most women and young golfers (one par four hole plays to almost 390 yards). Stoney Creek needs to follow the USGA initiative of "Play It Forward", and allow golfers who cannot hit farther than 150 yards opportunities to make pars. This will require that several new "forward" tees be constructed.

This has been an enjoyable golf outing on several occasions. I thoroughly enjoyed the course and the lunch we had before playing. I have done this outing several times.

Spent the holiday weekend at Wintergreen Resort and played twice at Stoney Creek. Having 27 holes means a chance to play all three courses over 2 days. All of the courses were in great condition. The staff are helpful and the facilities and amenities are very good.

$$$ but between the high prices, poor service and boring food menu, not a place we will go back to anytime soon.

This is an interesting layout and most often kep in top condition unless a drought hits and prevents the usual watering patterns. But there are both challenging and scenic holes to enjoy on this round.
