Broken Bow Ranch was a bust. My friends and I were excited to go on a trail ride together, it was one of the last times we would be able to get together before one of my friends moved out of state. Our first ride was cancelled due to the weather, the woman on the phone assured us it would have been miserable so we rescheduled. On the day of our ride, we drove out to Crandall, the ranch was a bit difficult to find and the gate was closed so one of us had to get out and open the gate for the car to drive through. When we got to the ranch, David introduced himself, he was saddling up the other few horses and told us we could get to know the horses while we waited. He mentioned they were all friendly. We walked to the corral where glass and other trash littered the ground, the horses looked depressingly pathetic and as far from lively as can be. In short, they looked drugged. A family was also in the area waiting when the mom mentioned the horse that kept stumbling like it was about to fall. We were concerned so my friend approached David who was chatting away on a cell phone, after his call my friend voiced her concern about it, he shrugged it off and said that particular horse is just stretching and we could walk her if we wanted to prove her abilities. That suggestion came as a surprise to my friends, neither friend has had experience with horses so that seemed dangerous. We watched the horses for a while, noting their physical appearance: cuts, gashes, severely tangled and matted maines, glassy eyes. The whole experience was so disheartening and gave me a the worst sick feeling in the pit of my stomach that I suggested we leave. None of us felt right about it and intuition alarms as loud as these generally don't lie... We approached David again to let him know of our decision, which is when he got incredibly defensive and insulted us for leaving. He said something like "I'm kind of a professional." Will not be back and definitely DO NOT recommend. Maybe we came on an off day but I'm surprised this ranch is still in business when the horses and ranch look neglected and customer service is nonexistent.
This was one of the best travel I have ever had. The staff were very kind and down to earth especially DAVID. They extended their generosity and hospitality. We were a group of five people. By all means, we enjoyed our time. The horses were prepared well and very safe. The ranch was fabulous and stunning.I am coming back again to have fun.
First of all, let me say that my first ride at Broken Bow Ranch was great and the staff was very friendly. Sadly, my second visit was bad enough to where I won't want to ride there ever again. For my birthday last week, my husband and I decided to take the day off and drive the 50 minutes from our house to Broken Bow Ranch for a one hour trail ride. When we arrived at the ranch, the gate was locked. Eventually a young guy showed up and let us in. He explained that they were a bit delayed since a tractor wheel had broken that morning but to drive on to the stable. We couldn't see anyone else on the ranch, there was garbage spread on the ground and the horses were still out in the field. We waited for about ten minutes and then the man who had opened the gate came with two unsaddled horses. (He never introduced himself so I don't know his name.) We asked how big of a delay there would be and explained that it was my birthday and that we had dinner plans with friends so we were in a bit of a rush. This was when our ride was supposed to start and the man said that it would be about 30-40 minutes. When I said that might be a problem time wise, the man suggested that he get us on the horses and walk us around the fenced in area for 30 minutes. That wasn't the ride we had in mind so we didn't really see that as a good alternative. My husband and I talked it over and realized we wouldn't have time to make our dinner reservation if we had to wait 30 or 40 minutes for our one hour trail ride so we asked for a refund. This seemed to make the man very angry and he told us that we would need to talk to Groupon about that. We said that although we realized the delay wasn't their fault it wasn't reasonable for us not to get a refund when they hadn't even called to tell us about the delay in advance. The guy simply said "Sorry but I'm not sorry" and proceeded to act in a way so rude and threatening that we were worried something might happen and we left. We were able to get in touch with the owner, she apologized and promptly reimbursed us, but I will not be able to recommend Broken Bow Ranch to anyone after what we experienced.
Broken Bow Ranch was a thrill for our whole family! Mrs. Bingham & her team accommodated our big group of 10 from New York for a beautiful 1 hour ride the day after Thanksgiving. Mrs. Bingham made sure we got an early riding time so we would make it in time for the wedding rehearsal that afternoon. Everyone at the ranch was informative and helpful as we were mostly first timers. Great view, tranquility & friendly horses to top it off!
David was very friendly. My wife freaked out but he was very paasionate and helped her. The farm is wide and very nice. Could see a lot of their cattle.Definitifly would do the ride again horses were nice too
My 8 year old daughter and I had a fun ride this morning. This was a make-up ride for a ride that was rained out previously. We have been here before and will come back. This place is nothing fancy to look at when you get here, it is a ranch. But the horses are great, the women who work there (Jean and Gaye) are very nice, and you get to see some beautiful countryside on the ride. We like to come here because it is much more reasonably priced than other places, and they take good care of you. Being able to set a reservation online is nice also.
I enjoyed the trail ride. Gaye's sons were very nice and respectable. Brian was very welcoming to my mother and I. the ranch was the best looking and some of the horses could have been taken care of better, but it was a nice outing.
The horses are very ill maintained. I understand it's the country & they will be dirty, but They are BEYOND that, by years! They are not given access to water all day.The boys "running" the place need to be more vocal to 1st timers (adults). They were good with the children! If you are going to allow payment on property, then have a company phone ON location. Having people run to the gas station to get cash or call in their CC is not acceptable. The property driving in, needs clean up!The boys were nice, horses well behaved, but there maintenance Is my #1 complaint. Very sad.
My boyfriend and I had a wonderful time. Everyone was very attentive to the guests and the horses are well taken care of. We were even given the opportunity to help groom the horses if we wanted to. Strawberry is a sweet horse and was perfect for me. We felt like part of the family when we left and can't wait to visit again! I definitely recommend Broken Bow Ranch for a terrific experience!
My boyfriend and I were visiting Dallas for work and extended the trip for the weekend. We had a great 1 hour ride with Kat on the ranch. We had only each rode a horse once and this ride was perfect for us not having really any experience. This is not an expert course so experienced riders should be aware of what they are getting into. It's perfect for families and beginners that want to enjoy the ranch, fresh air and quiet. Definitely call Gay before buying any kind of groupon deal.
I totally agree that it was no way to treat a customer and I apologized. I was out of townand didn't have any way of working anything out. My husband needed help with the fenceto contain our cattle and my son saw no way out. I tried to give the customer a free trailride. My son should have handled it differently and he understands that now. Please check my reviews on groupon, living social, zozi and amazon.
