This place has apple everything: pies, danishes, cookies, jelly, butter, cider, pie filling, ice cream, and others I'm sure I'm forgetting. It is worth the stop to try something. The staff are so friendly and the atmosphere is just great. We especially love their apple pie, apple ice cream, and apple cinnamon jelly.
Excellent small gift show complete with apple deserts and apple ice cream. They do have very sweet and crisp apples and their apple products are second to none. The apple pie is delicious. If you are into apples, this is a great stop.
Little shopping...but the apple pie is the bomb!!!! My husband had the cookies-huge!!! I swear they weighed a pound each!!!! Not Apple picking season yet...darn!!!
We didn't have a Johnny Appleseed in this part of the country. Probably more like Juan Manzana or Gustav Apfel in this region to get the orchards started, but acres of sweet teacher pleasing fruit can now be found here. Apples are to Medina as peaches are to Fredericksburg. Their notoriety and scale of production may not have quite hit the high that Fredericksburg enjoys, but the orchards, along with a festival and the production of all things apple, make traveling to this little store and cafe a trip worth taking. Seemingly not big business, but it wouldn't take much if a brewery like Angry Orchard decided to produce hard cider here. However, I like it just the way it is with the quaint small town actuality and this little rustic store and patio cafe that produces, what else, a most famous 5 lbs. of apples pie. It's not cheap, but you are definitely getting the apples you paid for. Having seen this thing made, it's a wonder that there is not an apple avalanche in the kitchen when they begin to pile the apples into the pie crust.dough! If you go during the apple festival, go early as parking is on the side of the road and can extend for quite a distance away from the activities.
As a native to the South Texas area I was astounded to learn apples are grown in the Medina, Texas area. Gala and Jonagold apples were ripe for picking this past Saturday at Love Creek Orchards. The crisp, sweet apples were easily reached as they are grown on dwarf trees. Staff were helpful; be sure to question them concerning the different types of fruit available for picking. We harvested wonderful peaches last month. In addition to apples, figs are now available for picking. We will return in October to pick persimmons. I believe I spotted blackberry bushes. To reward our labor we stopped by the Love Creek Orchards Cider Mill and Country Store for cookies and flaky apple strudel.
The cafe has a small menu but everything was fresh and delicious. We sat at picnic tables in a covered patio and enjoyed salad and chicken salad sandwich. The apple pie was delicious. We skipped the apple ice cream. The country store is small but had some nice products. The home-baked products are probably the best.
I was expecting a bit more but...shared a pretty good grilled chicken sandwich in the picnic area out back.
You can buy just about everything apple at this quaint establishment. The burgers, although not apples, are out of this world, the buns are fantastic. Be sure to read the labels on the loaves of bread - I thought I was picking up a loaf of apple bread and got jalapeño cheese bread instead, but it was delicious.
We stopped by on our way to Escondida last Thursday afternoon. The weather was projected to be very bad that evening and the store was closing early due to the storm. Even though the employers are in the process of closing, they were very nice and let us pick up a few items as well as the most delicious Apple strudel and turnovers. Thanks for the goodies. We will always return when we're in the area.
I had read about this place and wanted to make sure we found it and checked it out. The aromas coming from inside are devine. There is a large selection of items to purchase and the apple turnover was great. The peanut butter cookie is as big as my head and so soft and good. The variety and explanation of the apple trees for sale was great. The orchard is just down the road on the same highway.
The food was very delicious but a little pricey. The store was fun and well layed out. Interesting local merchandise but also a lot of vacation type trinkets to buy for friends and other family members. The apple ice cream was really good. I loved the home baked flavors of their pastries. They were absolutely wonderful
So, I found something that is NOT bigger in Texas-Apples. When I saw them, I was like, really? We are from PA, where apples can be as huge as too fists put together! In all honesty, they were truly delicious non the less. The sandwiches at the cafe were very tasty. The apple ice cream was good-my kids actually did not like it as much as I thought they would-I would recommend actually getting one ice cream and letting all try first before you spend alot of money. They boked at first but, I was glad I did this when I was the one sitting with the still half full cup in the end. Guess we are used to eating apples in the Fall not when it is 100 degrees outside. I would like a dollop of that stuff on some warm apple crisp in Oct! Great place to grab lunch. Was recommended to us by the owner of the Gunslinger-go there too, it is a really cool shop! Note: only way to buy apples at the store is a 3lb bag for $6, if you have time, which we didn't, you can pick your own at their orchard right down the road for like $1.25 lb. I asked a couple people there who had picked their own and they said it was fun/easy.
We really enjoyed the tuna and chicken salad plate and ice tea! The blueberry muffins were to die for! Great place to visit and sit outside to watch the world go by.
We were back in the Hill Country so we wanted to stop at the Apple Store at Love Creek Orchards. Unfortunately, they are now closed on Wednesday. There was a sign on the door and no mention on their website or facebook page. Drove about 20 miles to visit and children were disappointed. We went down the road to another cafe for lunch. They lost a lot of business that day that ended at the same cafe where we were getting lunch. We were really looking forward to some apple ice cream :(
We stopped during a Hill Country bike ride. Doesn't look like much from the outside but the inside patio is painted very quaint in a country style. If it can be baked from apples, they've got it. Big portion apple pie a la mode with soft serve ice cream is a treat. Assorted apple breads, cookies, cider, strudels- well worth the stop.
