Bird banding is the 1st Saturday of every month. The people there are great with kids and so knowledgeable. Its $7 per adult for a day pass. Kids under 12 get in free. Hold and release birds. Fishing. They have an amazing center where the kids can learn about animals and insects. Have a picnic by the water. Its a great time to be had!

We only had a chance to stop here for a bit on our way down to San Antonio via 281. I had always read that this was a beautiful park, but had never seen it first hand. We took some time to explore down by the river and to skip rocks for a bit. Then we went to climb on and explore the giant gnarly roots of the nearby cyprus trees. It was a chilly day so we made our way back to the car to see what the rest of the park had in store and to pick out our favorite camping spots if ever we choose to come back down here to pitch a tent for a few nights. I think we'll hit this place again on the way down to New Braunfels this spring even if it's just to play for a bit. Get a state park pass and you can get into state parks for free!!

I have visited in small and large groups and it is so much fun. Depending on the river depth, tubing can be a lot of fun!

The park was beautiful, clean and amazing to look at. It's defiantly worth your time and money. I enjoyed every bit of nature out there. There also was so many cactus which I enjoyed seeing because they were wild out there.

Overall, great campground in central Texas between Austin and San Antonio. About 1.5 hour drive from Austin and 1 hour from San Antonio. 2 main camping areas, Cedar Sage and Turkey Sink along with walk in camp sites for tent campers that is close to the river front.Sites are clean and have lots of shade. Cedar Sage is primarily for tent camping and small trailers (teardrop and tent trailer size). Turkey Sink has larger spots for bigger RVs and travel trailers. Turkey sink also has lots of trees and good shade coverage but not quite as much as Cedar Shade as they need to allow room for larger vehicles. Both Cedar Sage and Turkey Sink have water and electricity hook ups. Sites also have fire rings (which can be used when there is no burn ban) as well a tables. They also provide a pole for hanging lanterns by the table.Bathrooms are clean and well lit and also have shower stalls available. There is also a dump station for RVs that want to empty tanks before leaving the park. There are some nice walking/hiking trails that are also open to mountain bikes. There is also a horse trail for the equestrian campers. Most trails lead down to river front. If you are passing through central Texas or are in the area, would certainly recommend this one but I do think reservations well in advance might be necessary.I will post some video footage on YouTube shortly for those that might be interested.

I spent a few hours here strolling from the the main parking area down to the rapids and back again. The water is so blue and set against the sand stone bluff create an amazing backdrop. As you move down stream, the huge old cypress trees along the banks of the river provide some beautiful pictures and much needed shade. There were several families picnicking and enjoying a day at the park. It has a playground and is a wonderland of exploration and sights. Down near the rapids, there must have been a field trip as it was full of kids, and a few parents watching them all.

My wife and I spent a day at this great state park. We initially felt that the $7 per person entry fee was a bit steep. However, for a full day's fun maybe not. The area around the river is truly beautiful. The Autumnal colours were simply stunning. We followed a number of trails which were short and easy to follow. There were plenty of places to enjoy a picnic or barbeque. Later in the day, we moved the car and walked some of the longer trails. The river overlook trail was disappointing as there were no worthwhile views to be had of the Guadalupe river. We found the trails on the river side of the main park road to have names, whereas those on the other side were called loop number 1, 2 3, 4 etc. You need to take both maps from the entry gate if you are to follow the route successfully.

My husband and I went hiking in the Guadalupe State Park. The parking near the river is great and we were quite suprised that there are parking lots all over the park, that allow you to stop in different areas and hike around the wild areas further away from the actual river. There were ample picnic tables equipped with bbq stations, placed well in areas where you will have views of the river; some in very close proximity. The trees are breath taking and on a good weather day this place is a nature wonderland , you can find a sweet spot and easily have a great meditation session. The paths you can walk go along and within the forest like areas, making for excellent hiking and feeling like you can really go far within to discover nature. It's excellent that you can go in the river, just be sure to wear water shoes as the stones at the bottom will hurt your feet no matter how tough your soles are. I highly recommend this park for families and couples alike. And if you're a camper, this place is phenomenal as they have areas for campers, tents, and shower facilities . Very cheap rates, and you can be there all day with ability to come and go for the day you pay for. Love this place :)

I'm easy pleased with the beauty of nature and this river park never disappoints me. The focal point of the park is a bend in the river where a bluff rises high over the park picnic area and a the beach to enter the water. There is plentiful parking, picnic tables along the shore, walking paths, hiking trails, drink machines, and the cool river water flowing over the riverbed rocks... I love it, it's a great place to spend a day walking the trails along the river or going deeper into the brush - it's all good. The park is also near Bulverde where you can get fast food, groceries, or ice to make your day better. The view alone is worth the trip.

My experience here was poor, and I'm going to blame the low water levels. I don't know how the river bed usually is, but there was nothing but algae, you couldn't walk without slipping. My mom fell and badly hurt her knee. The water was very murky and you couldn't see to the bottom at all. Not a Loy of shade either. My dog enjoyed it, but the rest of us were hoping for a cool swim, and were disappointed with shallow, warm, murky water.

The park is extremely clean, the river is gorgeous - a great place that is family friendly and pet friendly. The bathrooms are clean. Good cheap fun all the way around.

I've seen the Guadalupe river before, but to be able to enjoy in the peace and quiet of nature is quite amazing. I makes me want to learn to camp. The bathrooms were adequate the park was clean and although the river was low, it didn't diminish from the overall experience. It will become a favorite for me and my family.

There are some amenities along with Wifi. The bathrooms are far few between. Water levels are low and the foliage here is a bit sparse. Not my favorite park, but not horrible either.

Guadalupe River State Park is a great place to hang out with friends who like to barbecue and float in the river. Parts of the river are deep enough to swim in. Most people get in above the pic nic area and float down the rapids - body surfing style. When the water level is low you scrape bottom and go too slow. But when the water is up the ride is fantastic for all ages. Be sure to bring water shoes - the rocky bottom is murder on bare feet.
