The stoping areas overlooking the city and the mountains are a must. Some of them also have picnic tables and shade. Great place to take pictures. I tend to get altitude sickness, so get the app called " my altitude", it will tell you what the elevation is and allow you prepare for it.
Great views of El Paso, but disappointed with the trash over the cliffs. It took away from the view of the city. Too bad all those litterers didn't just throw themselves over the cliff.
you learn of the history and the war to separate texas, NM and mexico and the rio grande. there are several plaques to read and great view of Juarez, texas and NM.
Great view of El Paso and Juarez Mexico. If traveling through El Paso would I get off of I-10 to go here? No ....
Great to see the stunning sunsets that el Paso/Juarez has to offer.Take with you some food and drinks and have the greatest day ever! ..............
We went to see the sunset, stayed for over an hour, took plenty of pictures. It was an amazing view on the two cities and the sunset was gorgeous as well.
Best place to see a great view of the two cities. We plan to go back at night time to see all of the lights
We went at night in October to see the city lit up. The weather was perfect and the view was very pretty! There weren't very many people at the overlook when we visited and we were able to find parking easily. Other visitors were fairly quiet and it was an amazing view of the area in lights! I would recommend for all ages.
We visited from Dallas and thought this scenery was great. There are no mountains or even big hills in DFW so we were impressed. We had the bad timing to go on a very cold, windy day, but still it was totally cool. We got great pictures and enjoyed the ride and the view. It was definitely worth the drive to see it when you are in El Paso
Great way of showing visitors where El Paso Stops and Mexico Starts. Look for the red X. That is the border Crossing.
I mapped this point from the Trip Advisor site and was super confused when my GPS stated I arrived... there wasn't much! Thankfully, when leaving, I drove further on scenic drive and saw better views. Perhaps I didn't go far enough, but it wasn't as spectacular as I was expecting from review... the road was pretty busy and this took away from the experience, especially since the stop off we found put the road between us and the views. I would be willing to go back at night and check it out. If you're driving this way, give this a go. I wouldn't cross town to come see it (in daytime at least) but worth it if you're in the neighborhood. It was nice to drive thru some residential areas as well!
This is a short drive up the Franklin Mountain hillside overlooking El Paso and Juarez. There is limited parking along the way and at the top but it's worth stopping and taking your binoculars (highly recommended) for some outstanding views.
We always take out-of-towners to visit Scenic Drive. Not only do you get to see the nice houses on Rim Road, but the view, especially at night, helps put the city of El Paso in perspective. By visiting here, you can also better understand the sister-city relationship with Juarez, and there's usually at least one Taco or Ice Cream Truck onsite.
Easy drive, but parking was a bit tight. The night view was beautiful as you could see the border area, into Mexico and most of El Paso spread out in front of you. The air is clear and there are many unique lighting displays on bridges and overpasses, that you don't expect to see so clearly. There is an interesting tall sculpture in Ciudad Juarez that is very visible and we later found out it is a popular restaurant. A small park area is available where kids can climb on rocks or look through telescopes. And you've got the "Lone Star" right above your shoulder as you enjoy the view.
A quick drive not long at all, but worth it. Amazing view at the top, and a good spot to rest, and maybe have lunch. Will definitely go back.
