This is a roughly one mile loop from the parking lot at the trailhead. It is relatively flat, with little shade. While there are some nice views along the west limb of the loop, the slot canyon trail is the hike to do at the National Monument.
Don't let the sign fool you there is some climbing on this loop trail but not enough to keep a family with a stroller away! Enjoy the slot canyon whilst there!
Try and have enough time to go do this and the canyon trail. If you only have time for one, do the canyon, but if you have time, do this one as well. Easy short walk for all people, probably better for younger kids.
This trail is in Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks National Monument. It is an easy 1.2 mile hike that will give you good views of the amazing rock formations in this National Monument. However, do make for sure that you hike at least a little ways up the Slot Canyon Trail, which comes off of the Cave Loop Trail. That will get you into some amazing slot canyons. You do not have to hike far and the hiking is not difficult in the first section of this trail.
a not to impressive trail,,the cave is unimpressive, this trail can be done as a part of the Canyon Trail.
After hiking to the top catch your breath as you head back to your car and take the cave route. Mostly flat and fairly short with a photogenic and interesting cave.
We did this hike after the canyon trail and it was enjoyable. But do the canyon trail first no matter what your abilities and go as far as you can.
This is a great trail for those with accessibility limitations. It is not paved and does involve a little up and down but is not strenuous. One can view the amazing rock formations and the cliffs from below.
This was an easy down hill hike. Passed the cave and more interesting tent rocks that looked like ghosts. A great day even though a storm was approaching.
fairly short and easy, can be done in 30 mins. there is a cave along the trail, which was OK. views are average. recommend the canyon trail more!
This trail goes off of the loop trail and takes you to some caves carved into the cliff face, similar to Bandelier, which is volcanic rock consisting of mostly ash and small debris from the volcanic activity that took place here in the far past. Tent Rocks is very fascinating and an easy walk on well marked trails so if you have time do the cave trail, if not stick to the loop trail.
Save your energy for the Canyon Trail and going up to the top of the mesa. The Cave Loop trail is pretty boring in comparison, but it depends on the athleticism of your party and your time. If you have time for one and you're in decent shape, do only the other trail.
An easy trail to start out with and see how you handle the elevations. breathtaking views and fun to climb up into the cave. easy walking, but bring water.
this is an short and easy walk. One that everyone can do even if you have health issues. The colors and views are wonderful to experience.
You can see Lake Cochiti from the top and you go thru a slot canyon, which is amazing. Bring lots of water and wear good soled shoes, the rocks can be tricky.
