It's pricey, but the corn is excellent. The baked goods are good and the soft serve is good. Huge Christmas light display. Great for families with younger children.
Despite the fact that the prices are a bit high, I like popping into Johnson's every now and again. It is the only place where I can find Cherry Preserves, Cherry Butter and Cherry Jam most of the year. They also have yummy cider doughnuts. There seems to be a little of everything, i.e., produce, frozen food, bakery goods, ice cream, candy, toys, events. I like their pies, but the last time I was there a fly had been saran wrapped in one of the fruit pies and that turned me off completely. Mostly I stick to the bottled goods.
ExcellentWill always return, especially for th e Cider donuts! The Johnson family have been doing this for years and continue to improve it. They even had a live band!
Johnson's Farm is a nice place to bring the kids. They offer hayrides in November and Santa Claus and lights during December. They have a feeding zoo, where goats and other small animals can be safely fed through a double fence, with feeding tubes. They have a large supply of seasonal items, e.g. pumpkins. As far as the home made pies and other items, they are extremely expensive and the whole atmosphere is set up to encourage your spending.I give them a "very Good" for effort and atmosphere, however, you are not buying on the farm at farm prices.
My family (me, husband, kids – ages 13 and 7); went to Johnson’s Corner Farm the first weekend of October. It was a beautiful, crisp autumn day and the farm was jam packed with people. And I mean hundreds of people. Despite this, it only seemed too crowded at certain times; the staff did a great job with keeping the flow of people moving.Prices: Admission to the Farm / Market / Parking is free. There are admission only places on the farm (corn maze, hayride, animal farm, playground) that require ticket admission; each ticket is $3.75. For a family of four, we spent approximately $40 on tickets and did most everything. Compared to some other area attractions, I feel like the price was pretty good overall; especially considering you could pick and choose what to do (with some exceptions – see below).Attractions: At Johnson’s Corner Farm they offer a hayride with fruit/produce picking (pick your own off the vine/tree), an Animal Farm / playground (two attractions for the price of one) and, during the fall, a corn maze. You have to pay to do the hayride, and the only way to pick your own produce (in our case apples and pumpkins) is take the hayride. So if you want to pick your own produce you get charged not only for the hayride (one ticket at $3.75 per person), then you still have to pay for the produce (our total came to about $40 – a bag of apples, one giant pumpkin and two gourds). However, if you want to skip the pick your own part, they do have the exact same produce for sale at the exact same prices in the market. So really, you pay for the “experience” with the kids; which was a lot of fun, and all the kids seem to enjoy it. Further, the farm staff is extremely upfront with costs – they tell you that one bag of apples is about 9 lbs, costing about $15. There are no surprises there.Likewise the animal farm/playground is fairly self-explanatory – two tickets for kids 1-12; adults and teenagers one ticket; kids under 1 free. They have goats, sheep, cows, donkeys, chickens and ducks and even though it was crowded, it never felt that way. Additionally, in the main animal farm they have a couple of really neat little play areas set up for the kids. We did not make it over to the second playground, so I can’t speak for that. The only thing that really irritated me with the attractions was the corn maze (also one ticket at $3.75 per person). The maze itself is more aptly described as a few paths through some corn that may have a maze-like feel to it. It was not large, it was not difficult and was well suited for younger children; definitely too easy for my children. However that was not my main issue with it. The issue I had was that to do the corn maze you HAD to also pay for the hayride – it was the only way to get to the corn maze. So in order to do the corn maze it really costs close to $24; you just happen to get a hayride there. Had I known in advance that the corn maze was meant for younger kids, I would have saved myself the $11 and skipped it completely. If you are looking for a really good corn maze go to pretty much any other one in South Jersey. The Market: This trip we skipped the market part of the farm, but having been there in the past I can tell you that it has everything you could possibly want – pies, cider, food, mums, produce, etc. – for a very reasonable price. This past weekend they also had a live band playing, moon bounces set up for the kids, and an indoor Halloween gift shop. Again, I didn’t go in the gift shop, so I can’t comment on prices.Overall: Despite the crowds, I love Johnson’s Corner Farm. We had a great time, and everything moved really quickly – though the line for the hayride was approx. 45 minutes. But that was the only line. We used the restrooms – twice – and had no line either time (and they were clean!!); checking out with our picked produce took less than at the grocery store (they had approximately eight lines open, including cash only and credit); and the lines to purchase tickets moved quickly and efficiently.I do have to say, that I am glad this was not my first experience at the farm, mainly because it was so crowded that if it had been, I may not have gone back. But that is me, and I don’t like large crowds in small spaces. But I have been there for other seasons (they offer peach picking, corn picking, etc. etc. etc. at many times of the year) and have had a wonderful time. I’m thinking that the reasons for the crowds had more to do with the start of October and it being the last weekend for apple picking than anything else. Still, it was a great time; and fabulous way to start my favorite month!
My friends and I love to go apple picking the Fall. I've been to some amazing places in the mid-Atlantic and New England, but this is not one of them.First, there is not a good selection of apples. And the apples that are there are so visibly covered with pesticides (which they are upfront about) that my husband didn't want to eat the skins even after a thorough washing. So we turned all the apples into apple sauce.Second, the apples aren't cheap! Despite being only able to pick traditionally cheap apples (this nasty red delicious apples from your school lunches back in the day), the prices are surprisingly high.Third, this hay ride? You have to take it. Despite the apple orchard being 100 feet away, we had to take a hay ride there. And then we had to take it back, which took 20 minutes as it went around the entire farm, all the while we were inhaling fumes and dust.
Kids can have a good time but if you buy produce, you will be shocked by the prices. We went for the Easter egg hunt. The kids had a ball.
This is a very nice place to take your younger kids...under say 12? Much activities: apple, peaches, pumpkin picking; hayrides, playground, live music, harvest store, fresh produce, ice cream...can go on and on.The only reason I did not give this place a 5/5 is the prices...$17 for a pot pie? $3 for a hot dog?Food is really good, don't get me wrong. They need to lower their prices 15-20% :)
Great fun and safe place for toddlers, tons of things to do. Took my 3 year old granddaughter here on a Saturday morning, was not crowded. We fed the animals, took a hay ride (~20 min ride), then went to the playground area with was great. Has a bunch of slides and monkey bars, plus a splash pad, tee-pees, huge sandbox area, a race track with pedal cars. The whole playground area is very safe for kids and they have a bunch of shaded areas with seating for parents and grandparents. When we were leaving ~12:30 it was starting to get crowded. Was a little pricey, but well worth it. 3 adults and 1 child was $24.00 and that was for the animal barnyard/hayride/playground area. There is an ice cream area that was perfect for getting the little one off the playground and closer to the car. :o) Would highly recommend Johnson's Corner Farm! Can't wait to go back!
Fun and safe place for small kids. Plenty of play spots along with a working farm. Took my little guy on the hay ride out to the fields and he picked his own fresh strawberry's. The snack bar had food for kids and adults. A short time later we went over to the ice cream stand for a treat. There is also a splash pad for the kids to enjoy in the heat, bring a bathing suit.
We visited at the start of strawberry picking season and both myself and my two-year-old grandson thought it was fabulous! We took the hayride out to the strawberry field and picked a small box. Then we went to the little waterpark area, and he had a blast splashing around! After that we went inside and picked up a lunch and sat outside to eat. The food was reasonably priced and the service was just exceptional. We will go again!
Although very pricey, Johnson's is a great place to visit, especially for families with young kids. There's a lot to do, from taking the wagon ride to the pick your own field, to the playground, or feeding the animals. You can eat there or bring your own picnic lunch. Very often they have events with music and free hayrides, and during the holidays there's always fun things going on. They offer food on the premises and there are always fresh fruits and veggies for purchase. In the spring there is a wide assortment of beautiful plants for sale as well. My family and I visit quite often and always leave with empty pockets but having had a great time.
I've been coming here for many years and everything is fresh. You can't go wrong with any of the pies, cider doughnuts, or baked goods. Vegetables and produce are always fresh. I recommend the eggplant parmigiana or any of the summer salads. Since many teenagers work here, be prepared to wait. I was the only one at the counter but the young girls working were too wrapped up in their own conversation (not the first time). That said, the staff is friendly. And, the market is very clean. In the fall, the hayride to the pumpkin patch is a great way to spend the afternoon.
What a disappointment - someone must have sued them because the petting zoo is now a watch-from-a-distance and drop an ear of corn down a tube zoo. Even a 2-year-old knew this wasn't right.
Great bake goods for sale. Fresh pies and cakes. Soft ice cream in season. Lots of farm animals that the kids can feed. Wagon rides out to the areas that grow fruit and vegetables, were you can pick your own.
