The Presby Iris Garden offers many types of Iris' that bloom throughout the spring, summer and early fall. The flowers are a wide range of colors and are quite beautiful to look at. Lots of painters and photographers there enjoying the view.
These gorgeous gardens are in a park like setting, and have over 3,000 different named varieties of irises.
Whether you garden or not...this place is always breathtaking...and often inspire me to start a garden project in my yard
In the late spring and early summer, the iris gardens are a palate of color in bloom. This beautiful park showcases iris varieties, some new and some very old in well tended and manicured beds. All the beds are clearly marked. Stroll at your leisure and take home keepsake photos.
We went to just look around, as we have a number of different colored Iris in our yard. There were some color patterns there we had never seen or heard of before!
This garden was established in 1927 to honor Frank H. Presby, a founder of The American Iris Society. The display beds contain nearly 3,000 iris varieties that produce thousands of blooms each May. Every bed is marked with information regarding the identity of each iris. The beautiful colors are a photographer's delight! Adjacent to the gardens is a gift shop and a nursery where one can order a bag of rhizomes. During bloom season, suggested admission is $8.00 per person. Street parking only.
The 7 1/2 acre iris gardens contain over 14,000 irises of approximately 3,000 varieties (some varieties were registered with the American Iris Society as early as 1500?) and produce over 100,000 blooms over the course of the season.
A Beautiful spring time walk with entertainment and events if you choose to go there. the donation is small in comparison to what you get.
Visited the Presby Iris Gardens this past Sunday. The Irises are in bloom and were beautiful. Most of the flowers will be done between mid to late June. Many of the varities date back to 1900. There is a small gift shop and they do sell some of their plants. Bring your camera if you like taking pictures of the various flowers. They do ask for a donation since it is privately funded.
When the Iris Garden is in bloom this is truly a beautiful place to be. However, we have found it to be just as enjoyable for different reasons all summer long after the flowers have long since gone.
