Museum was more for children. Enjoyed the house. The pictures were fun to look at too. Very unique wallpaper in the house.

We stopped on a whim on our way to Duluth and eastward, and were very pleasantly surprised. The collection of "Wizard of Oz" memorabilia is second to none, and the house is well kept with just enough authentic detail. The adjoining children's museum and doll collection were an added bonus. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful as well. Highly recommend for any fan.

A large group of us just visited the Judy Garland Home and Museum in Grand Rapids, MN. What fun!! The museum has lots of information, pictures and many collectible items, especially from "The Wizard of OZ" We adults enjoyed it, but wish I had had my grand-daughters with me. There are many things for the kids. They also have a wonderful doll collection from many children's books. The house was interesting too. Don't miss it if you are in Grand Rapids, as who doesn't know the story of "The Wizard".

We had targeted the Frances Gumm (aka Judy Garland) childhood home in our travel to Grand Rapids. Her early childhood history/and/her parents' history are well covered. Her childhood home is a treat to tour... and there are no "ropes" to impede one's tour. Ms. Garland's movie career is treated AOK. But the WOWer aspect of this museum was the 30-PLUS display cases of Wizard of Oz memorabilia... on loan to the museum... from a single woman's collection! Any fan of WoZ needs to see it!Oh... and for Abraham Lincoln history buff... and folks who watch old timey movies... there is on display the beautiful carriage that Dorothy rode in Oz... and was used in many other movies... and originally was assigned to Abraham Lincoln... no joke!Also... for visitors with young children, there is a delightful "hands on" portion of the museum

I enjoyed casually walking through the restored childhood home of Judy Garland and hearing some of the family stories from the tour guide. Although I was unable to manage going up the stairs to the second floor bedrooms, those who did also enjoyed that time.The walk through the children's museum was rather disappointing. This consisted of collections of varied toys and books from the past.

The museum has A LOT of items related to the Wizard of Oz, 3,000 items added just this summer which made me think there must not have been too much to see prior to this summer. You can go through Judy's home where her family lived until Judy was 2 and the family moved to California. The house was moved from its original location to the museum right off of 169. There is a lot of family history. Judy's real name was Frances Gumm! It's not all about the Gumms, however. There is a stuffed African animal exhibit (creepy), a doll exhibit (also creepy), and a very cool mini town/play area if you have kids, I'd say, age 11 and under. They will love that huge, creative play place. Just avoid the creepy stuff!I actually hoped for a way better gift shop than is on site. $8/person for the museum.

Museum was very interesting, and revealed information about Judy Garland I never knew. Emphasis was on artifacts of her career, with the majority but not all related to the Wizard of Oz. Her childhood home was very authentically staged.

If you like the Wizard of Oz or Judy Garland you'll love it. I'm a big fan of Judy Garland's and I couldn't get enough, I just stood by they're monitor and watched her sing. Kids will love the museum lot for them to see too.

The Judy Garland museum had a lot to see - the original carriage from the movie is on display! Also included in admission is access to the house where Judy Garland spent part of her childhood and also access to the children's museum.

Young kids may be bored, but cool to see a little history of Judy Garland and where she was born. If you got some time to kill and want to have a story to tell that you were there I would suggest to go.

We were driving through, and had a perfect opportunity to stretch our legs. The grounds around the current location of Judy Garland's childhood house are well kept, and the kids liked looking around the "olden days house". Worth a stop. :-)

Was a bit disappointed. I was looking for a book appropriate for kids under 5. They had nothing in their gift shop in the way of a book for little children.

I love Judy Garland and the fact that she came from my home area is awesome. I was excited to go to the museum. It's got a lot of the random stuff that has been for sale regarding the Wizard of Oz which was cool to see and the buggy she rode in in the movie was also there. The house was awesome with a lot of little notes throughout of her and her family's life. Lots of pictures. It was really good. The only thing lacking I thought was the gift shop...I look for Christmas ornaments from my journeys and I figured for sure I could find something at the Judy Garland museum that depicted the Wizard of Oz for on my tree...NOTHING. I couldn't even find one thing I "had to have" in the gift shop...which is unusual for me. I guess I will just have to look online for something to commemorate my trip to her original home...sigh.

Admission is too high at $8/person, (under 1 year are free). For a family of 4- that's $32 for an average/out-dated attraction. If you are: visiting the lakes area and the weather is bad, have very young children, or are a huge fan of Judy Garland/Wizard of Oz- then it may be worth it. We went on a day when no one was there. When checking-in, we weren't provided any information. We had to ask how to get to Judy's house. We didn't know there were things to see around the outside of the house, until we left. This is not a guided tour. You will read placards in a restored Judy Garland house. The furniture is from the period, and not Judy's. My children 5 and 8 years spent about a half hour in that part of the museum. The Children's Discovery museum is attached. It really needs to be up-dated. My 8-year old was somewhat bored. Advice: find a reduced ticket, bring a preschool-aged child, and go on a day when there's an activity going on (if they have that).
