lake anita state park

Went camping here and it was a beautiful park with a very nice campground. The view is pretty and they have fun things for families, including a movie night under the stars. Will be back!

The park isn't super big and there aren't really any woods. However, it has a decent sized lake, lots of nice prairie, and four miles of paved bike/hiking trails that circle the lake and meander through the prairie. We were there in early November during the day and saw half a dozen deer. You could spend half a day or a weekend and have a wonderful time.

Campground with a lake view. Campground has tight/narrow roads which made it difficult getting into our site. No staff or station was available upon check-in. Small town grocery store and gas station nearby, within 5 miles. Campground about 10 mins from freeway. DirecTV (free standing satellite) had no issue. Verizon phone was able to get 4g signal. Boat ramp and fishing available within the park. Many of the campsites are covered by full tree that produce shade. Our site had full service at a good price.

This state park has so much to offer-you will have to GO there & see for yourself; like I idid!It offers over 100 campsites over half with electricity; a Youth camp; 39 hook-ups; 8 shelters for rent; plenty of hiking trails;fishing is permitted from the 171 acre man-made lake and it offers boat rental as well. This park boasts over 1000 acres of prime real estate set aside to indulge in just about anyone's desire to relax and unwind. Plenty of fresh air and wide-open spaces to stretch & relax. I saw the sun go down here and the moon rise the day I went. The colors reminded me of a tropical sunset. This park is just a few miles from the town that shares its name with it. The people I came across were typical Iowans: friendly and approachable; willing to answer a question and as helpful as can be.
