You do know that the casino sailed down the Missouri river, right? This is no longer docked, but was turned into scrap!!!! hahahahahaha
This is a crappy smokey barge casino. Wait till the Hard Rock opens to go gaming in this area. Do not go in the dark.
Check the hours of operation before you go. This casino is not open 24/7. It was very smokey and dirty. I would not go back.
The Argosy is currently in a legal battle involving the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission and the Missouri River Historical Development group (MRHD). In 2013, due to a variety of circumstances, they lost their bid to build a new casino and were to have closed earlier this month. The casino that did win the bid was the MRHD-sponsored Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, scheduled to open August 1. The legal issues continue to drag on with the casino being given additional days to remain open each time. Sadly, these legal issues and the casino's continued "hanging on" have long become pathetic to most in the community. The Argosy employees understandably have the mindset that "we're soon going to be closed so why should we try?" attitude. The carpets are filthy, equipment that breaks remains broken, and staff rudeness abounds. While it is understandable for employees to be a bit bitter, if customers continue to frequent the boat, and there are diehards who do, those paying customers deserve to be treated with at least some sort of customer service. By the time this review gets approved and you read this, the Argosy will probably be closed. Don't despair. Check out our shiny new casino just a few blocks away.
weve always brought money home this is our favorite gambling spot, its way above anything in omaha our favorite place tom joann norfolk ne
We stopped in here to try our luck. I watched the craps table and the nice lady told me how to play. I didn't win, but it was fun and the people were so fun and so nice. The casino is small but nicely lit with white lights on the ceiling. Unfortunately the slots don't pay too much. But it is a fun way to enjoy a cold afternoon in Souix City. They do not have a buffet, but have 2 places to eat. They serve drinks if you are playing.
Got up earlier than other friends on a recent trip so made our way over to the Argosy. It was super early on a Sunday morning, so not busy, but I was impressed with how clean it was inside. They had a mixture of old and new games and a pretty-good variety.
Located on riverfront. Small boat but the management has done a good job of making it as nicer as possible except the smoking - for some reason casinos forget majority of adults don't smoke - while Argosy staff try to keep it clean - the few times we go there we have to change clothes as soon as we get home and wash them - there is also the problem with ash residue. There is a casino 90 minutes north wher half the casino floor is non- smoking - for us it is worth the drive
i have had the worst experince there bar none have gone for a long time and the wins well they dont excist there so i recomend evry one to stay oway from that place maybe they will get the hint why the whole city avoids theme there is no funn in lossing evry time you go there unles im missing something i dont think loosing is funn at all now if you could winn evry now and then it be diferent otherewise its a waste of time and money just grab your stack of hundrids and throw it in the river see if it comes back the curren goes one way thats it it will flow down stream just like the boat should its selff
I have yet to win ANY money here. Lots of machines rendered me winless. The facilities and staff are helpful. Various games are available. Non-smoking area works well for many gamblers. Payouts should increase if Argosy wants to compete with other casinos in the area.
The Motel was close to the casino.. always fun to go there.. lots of things to do ..noisy and interesting..
The casino is just a few blocks from the Stoney Creek Inn and took us about twenty minutes to walk there.(Maybe 1 mile?) The Casino is in an old riverboat floating on the Missouri River. Quite cool already for me. The lower level allows smoking, but the second level is non smoking. You can actually feel the boat swaying slightly, which was neat as well. Beers at the bar were inexpensive ($2.25). Nice experience.
Employees are friendly and the service is above average. Other than that what do your really expect from a casino?
Adequate but not exciting. New land based casino coming to Sioux City soon! The Argosy is an older boat and just does not measure up to top casinos.
The "River Boat" is decent. The staff are very friendly. Smokey though, so if you don't smoke, you might wish you went somewhere else. Drinks are not cheap.... Food is pretty good in the rest.
