Never stayed in a yurt ,before but I'm now hooked! There are only 2 yurts at this park and they are in an area off by themselves with their own toilet/shower house. They also have nearby stairs that lead down to their own pier and a trail off 'into the woods'. The area is nicely shaded with tall trees, though acorns falling on the yurt canvas in the night was a bit surprising at first. There is room to play catch or throw a Frisbee. Speaking of 'things that go bump in the night': Also, after flushing the toilet, the pipes make a LOUD knocking sound that takes you off guard the first time you hear it! The yurt has a twin size bunk bed and a full size futon. Three windows that, when you unzip the outside canvas, allow for air to circulate. There is also a ceiling fan with electric light. you could spend the entire time just hanging out in this area but, if you have kids, there is a playground and swimming area a 'walk in the woods' or short drive, away.If you are in the yurt in the heat of summer, a fan might be a good thing to bring along as there are electric plugs in the yurt. Bring food and drinks also as there are no concessions in the park. All in all, a relaxing, enjoyable escape.

We wanted to go camping with our kids, ages 2 and 4, but weren't sure how they'd do in a tent. I did some research and discovered McIntosh Woods State Park rents out two yurts. Each yurt is $35/night. They ended up being the perfect choice! The yurts aren't heated or cooled, but they do have a ceiling fan and electricity. There's a futon that collapses into a full bed as well as bunk beds. There was enough room for us to set up a Pack 'N Play for our youngest to sleep in. There's no running water in the hurt, but there are separate bathroom facilities in the same area with a shower and a flushing toilet. The yurts are located right off of Clear Lake. We could stroll right down the dock from our yurt. There was also a trail leading from the yurts, and some people strolled through hunting for morels. The woods themselves weren't huge, but they were perfect for short hikes with little kids. The whole trip was perfect with them, and we plan on going back soon.

McIntosh Woods is a beautiful park. We were very impressed with the facilities and the availability of various shelters and pavilions. The campground and beach/boat dock area was very nicely maintained. I don't think I have ever seen such spotlessly clean restrooms ever before in a state park. Also, Tammy, the park ranger was incredibly knowledgable and helpful.

Just go back to the olden days and play by the shores of Clear Lake. Bring a bunch of food and have a barbeque on one of the grills located here and there. Go swimming! Let your kids run off into the woods! It's really not that big. Go out onto the "point" that sticks into the lake. It's the coolest thing. You'll see. Great family day. There's some kind of bathroom there. I don't remember if it's been updated or not. Probably has. Use to be an old fashion water pump there. Now that's probably gone. Perhaps not. Just the kind of place it is. Go on. Spend the day. Relax. Get real with the world.
