This is quite spectacular but not as good as some other places. The view of the winding river many feet below is quite spectacular but the view is somewhat limited. Worth a visit and a short deviation off the highway.
Trio on the run, drove down from Upper Antelope Canyon, once again not knowing what to expect, there it was a stunning Nature's creation, Utah seemed a gifted State, never short of fascinating wonders, couldn't help wondering how and what actually created this truly amazing place on Earth! One has to see it to believe!!
...but not the end of the world if you miss it, depending on how many other awesome places you visit in the area. worth a quick stop it time, as the scenery everywhere is awesome.
Okay, there's not masses here, but what an absolute gem! I was more awe inspired with this than the Grand Canyon, but probably only because you could get a proper feel for the place. The location is quite simply stunning and it's amazing to see where the river has cut through the stone. It's only a short drive off the highway, but, trust me, very well worth it!
A short stop, but worth the views. It is amazing what nature can do. Take the time to check the Goosenecks out!
As we were on the short trail to the overlook a young woman headed out said that the best view in the park was ahead. As we were just beginning to explore Capitol Reef we took her word for it. Turns out she was absolutely correct. Don't miss this view, especially in the afternoon when the light would be best!
The view from here is wonderful. Just a short drive off Hwy 24. The view was much better in person than the pictures we took of the views. In the late afternoon, the color is beautiful, but the haze really dulls it in pictures.
Just drive a little farther on the bumpy dirt road...the view is worth it! The short hike to the view is not long or difficult at all.
Turn off 24 before entering Capitol Reef at the sign. Be sure to not just drive and walk to the overlook but go back on dirt road that leads to Gooseneck Overlook. It is one of so many geologic spectacles to look down that canyon. Great park for photography.
How many rock formations can impress someone with no geological knowledge?Millions.Surprisingly each site offers something new.
Do not miss the Goosenecks Overlook. An awesome geological site, unique... I will say no more.. you need to be surprised!
It's a very short trail, with modest elevation gain, but extremely panoramic. It's just few minutes drive on a dirt road, from the main route.
It is rare to have such an outstanding overlook with such a short walk from the parking lot. If you are afraid of heights you will be a little nervous because of the drop-off. You can get some beautiful shots of the Fremont River winding through Capitol Reef. A must see!
Good view of the river below, hike just a view hundred meters. Kids hoped to see a flash flood but didn't see one!
We walked this short trail at 7AM, and had a lot of nice views along the way, and especially at the end. Along the trail were twisted junipers trees and blooming cactus.
